Sir Edmund Hillary

Sir Edmund Hillary

Sir Edmund Hillary was a famous person from Nz. He was known for many brave and shocking things and his most favourite was climbing the biggest mountain on earth Mount Everest. But it all doesn’t start their, he has did many things before that to climb the most fiercest tallest mountain regions on the planet earth.

Sir Edmund Hillary first climbed Mount Olivier in 1939. It was his first major climb and took place near Mount Cook in the Southern Alps. It was really hard challenge but he made it successfully with big braveness had it had many rough strong windy, terrains through the hard process of climbing the mountain.

Then the big time to shine had came it was time for him to climb Mount Everest with Tenzing Norway it took him 7 weeks to make it to the top but when he made it to the top he had to get down cause of the small thin air up there so when he came down he was then congratulated by the neplanese people and took a flight back to wards England to get knighted by the Queen. And before he became a Sir he then had a big heart and decided to make school and hospitals for people in Nepal which have no where to stay, learn and get healthy.

Then he had his first ever marriage in 1953 with Louise Rose and he got his first child Belinda but a tragical accident in Kathamandu in Nepal. His daughter Belinda and his wife Louise sadly passed away in a plane over Kathamandu, we will still remember them from when it happened in 1975.

In 1989 he then married again with June Mulgrew, who died on Air New Zealand Flight 901 in 1979. June, Lady Hillary, passed away sadly in Auckland on 1 June 2024.

But Hillary continued to be involved with charities like the Himalayan Trust and served as an Honorary President of the American Himalayan Foundation. He also appeared on the New Zealand $5 note in 1992, the only living person who was not a head of state to do so.

He was also believed to be the first ever person to reach both south and north poles of the planet earth.

Now this was the extraordinary life of Sir Edmund Hillary and he would always be a remembered beloved human figure of the history of earth.
