My Amazing Week Review

This week I had literally lost my brain cells cause I had so much fun! Monday we pretty much just did maths and got our new workshops. I am with my Home room Teacher for everything. It was a blast. This week this was probably the most fun week.

On Monday we just got everything organised and did maths pretty much the whole day in maths, we are learning geometry  i’m with Mr Wong in our group we are learn transformation(rotation, reflection , translation and symmetry, we had one week to complete a slide that i got finished in one day  we had to make 3d shapes and cut them out and make a symmetrical dance i did the Macarena at the same time so it would be translation( nothing changed). And that was the end of day 1.

Now it is Tuesday. I had the MOST boring day ever. We had a mixed day of everything. The day was ok. We had our normal workshops for maths and then we started  reading. We read about what installation is and how it keeps our home warm. At lunch time it was really boring because my best friend had to go home. I couldn’t do steam because I had my ukulala practice.  After that I came back and packed up and went home when the bell rang and that was the end of day two .

On Wednesday I  woke up with butterflies in my stomach because IT WAS CROSS COUNTRY and I was excited but not at the same time. In the morning we did the same workshops and we had our morning  a little early like normal cause we had to line up for cross country when it was time for the year six girls to run the course. My heart was beating and I was so nervous. Then we heard the Big Bang and we started running. I was huffing and puffing. I felt like I was gonna pass out. I ran down a hill with my friend holding hands and then we finished the race by going in the mud and wala i completed the race. And that was the end of day three.

On Thursday I stayed at home cause i couldn’t move of my bed i was stuck like a statue i stayed on my bed for the whole day on my ipad or i was reading at lunch time we needed to et me heels from the store so dragging my legs we bought my shoe and ate lunch at opoto. And that was the end of day 4.

Now Finally Friday The end of the week in the morning i am writing this blog and now this is my second to last paragraph at lunch time we are gonna do art if we are good and try learn how to use watercolours then at the end of the day we are just gonna do S.T.E.A.M and right facts down for S.T.E.A.M. That is the end of day 5 .

So overall the week was amazing and I did better in cross country then I thought  I am learning brand new things everyday, from our beautiful teachers teaching us new things so that is the end of the blog BYE!!!

My biggest and boldest achievement!!

In my life my biggest achievement is probably getting goals in a sport, I play hockey. I’ve been playing for three to four years and all of those years I got no goals or did anything. I would have always stood in the goal while all my teammates went up and scored. I never really got player of the day.

It would always be my friends that got the goal(s). Hockey is a team sport and you always need to help your team but I never really did. I just stayed in the goal and waited till the ball came to me.

This year 2022 when hockey started I was determined to get goals and now when I play and I get goals after the match everyone always praises me of how well and nice I play, and when I normally just started in the goal no one ever said I did well and I never got tired after I would keep all my energy but now it is the totally opposite.

I am really impressed with myself that I went from no sweat or tiredness to sweating 24/7 when I’m playing hockey and my feet hurt. My parents were really impressed because I had a match in the city and it was really far away.

I stayed in the goal the whole match. Now if I think about it I think that I wasted their time and they wouldn’t want them to bring me anymore. Now my parents always want to bring me to my matches even if they’re far away because they feel proud of how nice their daughter is, and point out how good and skilled I am.

So overall I am really happy about what I have achieved and I will never stand or sit in the goal waiting. I will always go up and try my best even if it comes to me getting hurt.

The Amazing Matariki

Matariki is a special celebration all around the world. Matariki is about the seven sisters but in some cultures it is nine sisters. Matariki is in mid-winter normally in June. Some say the Matariki is the oldest sister or the six and some saw Matariki in the mother or the six. There are seven stories about the seven sisters there names are Waitī, Waitā ,Waipuna-ā-rangi ,Tupu-ā-nuku, Tupu-ā-rangi, Uru-ā-rangi and Matariki.

The seven stars Matariki is a cluster of stars that appear in the early morning in the sky in New Zealand. Matariki has lots of things it can represent like remembrance for who in the recent years that had passed another is renewal the start of something new. The seven sisters also come out in seasons that crops harvest as some say.

Matariki is a time for whānau, to remember those who came before us and the legacy they have left behind, and also to learn more about our whakapapa, our ancestors. In these years people have made songs about Matariki like the Macarena. It is a song that has all of the sisters’ names. In the old times of Matariki Māori belevies Matariki to be a star that can predict the upcoming season.

Matariki is a small but distinctive star cluster that disappears below the horizon

in April and whose reappearance in the north eastern pre-dawn sky in late May or early June marks the start of a new phase of life. Before Māori were introduced to the Gregorian calendar they used their own system of distinguishing specific time periods.

Matariki is sometimes hard to spot if you’re not sure what you’re looking for but if you follow the line of Orion’s belt (Tautoru) down to the left, through the bright triangle of stars known also as the face of Taurus the Bull, then Matariki can be seen as a small twinkling mass of light.

During this time the forest was a primary food resource for Māori, replete with birds, the fruit of native trees, bracken roots, fern fronds and the native rat. Visitors were often showered with gifts, especially preserved eels, birds and other delicacies. The sharing of kai (food) was very important and showed great hospitality and respect to visitors.

What is a hero?

Do you know any New Zealand heroes? Normally you would think of a New Zealand sports team, a rugby player or a sailor but one of New Zealand’s real heroes is Kate Sheppard – the woman on the ten dollar note. Although she was born in Liverpool England, she immigrated to New Zealand when in her twenties and played a huge part In gaining equal rights for New Zealand. She is my hero because she has all the values I want in a hero like integrity, bravery and she didn’t give up.

Kate Sheppard is my favourite hero because she helped women get seen and get the vote. She had a really hard life On the tenth March 1910 her only son Douglas passed away. Then Kate’s husband Walter died on 24 July 1915 in their bathtub. On 15 August 1925 age 78 Kate was married to William Sidney Lovell-Smith. After four years of marriage William died. Soon after her only grandchild passed away on 13 July 1930. Four years later 1934 Kate died in her home and was buried in Addington cemetery alongside her mother, brothers and sister.

Overall Kate Sheppard was a remarkable woman who had a huge impact on women’s lives. She was a really intelligent woman who believed in justice and fairness. NZ became the first country to let women vote and all thanks to Kate Sheppard.

The fabulous life of Barleen

Barleen was born on May 18 2011 in India. When she was a toddler she was very bubbly and kind. Barleen moved to New Zealand When she was two. Barleen started going to school when she was four, sheways loved school. She always likes making new friends. When Barleen was seven, her parents thought she was not smart for her grade; she got rolled to a special class to learn and get smarter. When Barleen was 10 she was really smart. She knew all her tables up to 12 and was good at handwriting. She got an interest in orthodontistry. When she turned 14 she studied masters in college so she can achieve her goal to become a orthodontistry. In university she got a scholarship to Auckland Orthodontics University she became topper after two years she started to take wisdom teeth out on customers that come to the centre.

After a while she opened her own business, she started to start her business at home in her house and she was planning to open her own centre. She worked in two places for the same career: her home business and the clinic she works at. She was earning lots but she never spent money on herself; she always cared about her loved ones. After three years Barleen got married to a man At the orthodontic clinic she worked at. After Barleen got married she bought a mansion and her dream car called The fly Tesla. She opened a business and hired the people that worked at the old orthodontics clinic she worked at.

Barleen started to make the prices for the customers lower so they can get perfect teeth. She was trying to convince the Government . They did not want to lower the prices Barleen was begging for, because the world’s Population was going down for having good teeth. Lots of people got diseases, some people were dying and the population was going down fast.  She rounded up lots of people that had bad teeth. They all went to the Government house. They finally were able to get a case of the bored 18th May. It was Barleens birthday and the case of the day Barleen was wishing for her birthday that they would win the case. After Barleen and her Lawyer telling the judge why the prices should go down they won the case she was able to choose how low the prices went, 100 dollars the Government was shocked of how low the prices went it got reported on the world news and everyone was happy. Even though some dentists do it for free, sometimes the prices are 100 or lower.

On May 18th on her Birthday, she hosted a party because she won the case against the government to lower the prices for her Orthodontist Company. She invited 5000 people including special guests like the government. The party was going till midnight so she warned her neighbour that it would be loud. Barleen was going to go to her garden she saw a bomb that had a timer on it there was one minute left till it was going to expold her house she saw that there was a knife on the fruit punch table she grabbed, there was two wires red and blue she had a flashback of when she was 10 that in movies she watched all the bombs turn off when they cut red. Barleen cut the red wire the bomb stopped she saved her life and 5000 peoples lifes by cutting the wire, the goverment saw that she stoped the bomb so the person called backup and sroned her in a circle and shot her around everyone came running to the seen but the goverment ran away. Barleen left a legacy of fighting for people’s rights.

What makes me calm

Lots of things make me happy but my top 2 are probably drawing, playing roblox in my bed. Drawing is calming but sometimes when you mess up lots of times it gets frustrating, but still when you’re sketching or colouring it is still nice because you stay focused on one thing and you try to get it perfect. I am pretty new to drawing but drawing makes me happy because every time you draw u can always see yourself improving, and when u see your improving u get happy and u think I’m getting better so now I can try to draw something out of my comfort zone and then become good at it.

Roblox

Playing roblox is calming when you are playing a clam, no fighting game or games that you have to win. One of my favourite games in roblox is Royal High because you can dress up when you get things from the shop. The calmest place in the game is probably Divan park or their school, but when you play Sunset Island and you don’t win and you think you have the best outfit you get angry, even though it is still very fun and calming.

My superpower

Remember when we were little that we wanted to be superheroes? We loved to dress up and be a superhero and role play. as one. My favourite superhero is Captain Marvel because she has strength, stamina, agility and speed. When you were little did you believe in superheroes?  I did and I loved superheroes, I was addicted to them.

By talking to people I think I know my powers and people say  the my power are having Leadership qualities because my mum said that i can always guide people through problems and i can work as a team. Then my other power is not being afraid and not being embraced for stuff. Next being  soft spoken that’s for alway speaking in a right way. Now being tough this is for never giving up and standing up for others.

My feelings were like i was happy because people said that about me. I felt warm and fuzzy inside it was like a volcano of happiness and my friends and family flared me with embarrassment but in a good way a I loved that people said that about me

That’s the end and what’s your power? So that’s the end and remember that everybody has a power in the world you might not have laser eyes or  powers to be tiny but you will always have a superpower and remember that. Challenge make a slide with note that people said what you power is.

The trip to Taupo

Week 1: The trip to Taupo

On Saturday and Sunday I went to Taupo with my cousins and my mum and dad. It took at least 3 hours and 30 minutes. I slept for 2 hours in the car. I bought my favorite teddy, it’s name is Ice Bear and he’s really soft. We took lots of breaks and petrol pumps to get fuel and eat. All of us got chocolate and I got a yummy butter chicken pie. It was so warm and I made a mess in the car. After we arrived and we got our gloves and coats on then we realized  the parking was full so we were planning to get shuttle but then we found out the all the shuttles were booked so then all of us got back in the car the drovefor another hour and at that time I was sleeping then we arrived and it was freezing me and my family were shivering and then we walked to the other’s then we met up and we waited for the other’s and we went to the trolleys and waited in line until we were at the front of the line after I sat with my parents it was so cold and the bar over us was filled with ice we got down and it was cold. The snow was so stiff but all of us were throwing snowballs. I dogged most of them. Most of us targeted my mum. After 2 hour’s we got in the line to go back to the trolls it took 50 min then we got back and then we drove to the hotel and we chose our beds and after we changed in nice clothes we all went to a food place. Then we went back to the hotel and we played a little cards and watched YouTube then the day ended
