The ANZAC scarf
Violets scarf
This morning while I was carrying the buckets of water I heard someone call my name “ George come we are getting parsecs ” I dropped my buckets watching them leak I raced to the parcels getting handed out “ George ” he threw my parcel and I jumped to catch it and caught a hold of it. I went off to open it and took a deep breath before ripping a tiny hole in it I saw a bit of blue transitioning into brown then I smelt something familiar but I couldn’t quite put my tongue on it, i untied the red string as fast as I could, then rapidly ripped through the brown paper off till I got it out, it was a warm cozy scarf with a little blue stripe on each end, I rubbed my head against the warm scarf, then quickly got up to check who it was from ( to random soldier from Violet ) I realised it was the smell from home mums baking the farm, I took the scarf everywhere I went, it was my treasure. 2 years later I caught a glimpse of the boat while waiting I yelled out to everyone “where going home, where going home! ” then everyone rushed to the boat, and got on. When we got home I ran over to Violet and gave her a big hug “your wearing my scarf” she said excitedly, when I got home I put it in my shed. A few years later my shed burned down with the scarf in it but the tag luckily survived.
