Lynley Dodd:Zachary Quack
For Whanau STEAM Term 3, Tūī Hāpori focused on famous New Zealand people. Tūī 4 did a famous New Zealand author, Lynley Dodd. She is famous for her realistic illustrations and enjoyable children’s stories about nature and animals.
Tūī 4 split into groups of 3-5, and mostly groups of 4. There was a starting group an ending group, and groups for all the characters. The characters were: Hairy Maclary, Scarface Claw, Schnitzel Von Krumm, Zachary Quack, and Slinky Malinky. Olivia Suen, Giada Mangal, Isla Swift and I were in a group together. We were the Zachary Quack group.
In my group, we first decided who would do what, and what to do for our presentation. We decided that Isla and Olivia would be the speakers, and that Giada and I would perform the actions. Our poem, along with the 7 other poems, were not handmade but generated by AI. Our teacher, Mrs Barrowman, printed the 7 out in sheets for us to practice with. And who’s this small friend with a splash and a quack?
It’s Zachary Quack, who never looks back.
A duckling so tiny with feathers so bright-
Splashing and dashing with all of his might!
