Since the last blog post, this is all about my survival shelter design

The ropes

The  ropes are used to pull the shelter, even though it might be heavy, it still counts as being portable.

The food

Food for Mount Everest is packed in grey aluminium sachets, consisting of lean meat , such as chicken or beef, rice, water and a small bar of chocolate or a brownie. In this version, the food is chocolate chip oatmeal muffins.

The sleeping bags

Have you ever been to camping and slept in portable sleeping bags? On Everest, climbers bring their sleeping bags to the campsites along the way. In this shelter, the sleeping bags come in the shelter.

The fire
Most people light fires to cook food and to stay warm. On Everest, there is no sticks except for small twigs. The shelter comes with stacks of firewood to light fire. It also comes with a lighter to light the fire.

The walls

You can’t just sleep outside in the cold, you need something to cover you from the snow. The walls of the shelter are made from strong stone from the mines underground. It also doesn’t collapse into crevices , icefalls, gaps or ravines.

The pet

Have you ever needed a friend to come with you? The pet can be anything from cats or dogs to budgies or fish. In this design, the pet is a goose and you can choose to not bring a friend.

The oxygen tank and fire extinguisher

The oxygen tank is an important essential for climbing any mountain. The oxygen tank is in the shelter and you can take it with you. If you are sleeping and the fire spreads, you need a tool to put it out. The fire extinguisher is in the shelter to use if you accidentally forget to put out the fire before sleeping.

For steam in these past weeks, we have been learning all about famous kiwis who made big achievements. My group had 5 members,  me, Ayansh ,Tanveer ,,Raihaan and Kavish. We did sir Edmund Hillary, while others did Ernest Rutherford or Jean batten.

In groups of 4 or 5 ,we chose a famous kiwi to learn about. We had 3 options , which were Edmund Hillary, first man to climb Mount Everest, Ernest Rutherford , first person to split the atom and Jean batten, the record breaking pilot to fly around the world!

In my group, we all worked together to research facts like when they were born, their records and when they passed away. All 5 of us put our research together to turn it all into a giant paper timeline on a big sheet of paper. This was like making a biography about them!

We took all the info from our big timeline and made it into cool timelines on our own on CANVA. We added major info and colour to make them rock!

It was fun to learn about these brave and record breaking kiwis. If they were still alive, they’d be really proud of our timelines

We can’t wait to do more STEAM and share it with you!

Recently , Anoop and i have created a New Zealand themed Minecraft world with New Zealand icons like sky tower, tuatara etc

What New Zealand identity features did i add?

Tuatara , paradise duck, moa, sky tower, mount ruapehu, Auckland botanical gardens lakeside, tōtara trees, kauri trees and nikau palms

2. What did i learn about Aotearoa during this project?  I learned how popular New Zealand is.

3. What digital skills did i use? Pixels and blocks

4. What would i do differently next time? I should add more features to the sky tower and tuatara

5. How well did we work together? We worked on a separate thing in this project
