Tech in Kahu

Tech. Tech is something we have in Kahu. It gives us a taste of real life things such as cooking, sewing and being outdoors. This is a thing only in kahu. No other year group has these things.

What tech groups have you been part of this term?

The techs that I do are food tech and tectiles. (Tectiles are sewing by the way).

Do you have a favourite out of the two? Why or why not?

I personally like cooking better but tectiles is a close second. I mostly like cooking because I get to learn some skills in the kitchen but also because I get to eat afterwards. (I think everyone likes that part of food tech)

What has been the biggest challenge for you so far this term in tech?

For food tech, I can’t think of anything beside getting into the groups. It was quite confusing because the teacher organises us into food tech groups and I unfortunately missed out on our second lesson so I came back clueless for our third lesson. And for Tectiles, probably trying to pin together two little squares of fabric.

If you could introduce another Tech option at TGS, what would it be (Hard Materials, Digital Design, Visual Arts, Drama, etc)? Which teacher do you think would run it?

Personally I would like an animal themed tech but I wouldn’t know how you could run it so I would have to go with some sort of artsy tech. Like painting, colouring, drawing, ect… Now we do have an art teacher in TGS, who is Mrs Kent but out of the Kahu teachers, probably, Miss Dissmeyer.
