The Night Swimmer

It was a magical moment, seeing a Night Swimmer out in the open, having a drink. The colours of blue and green blended like nothing I had ever seen before. It was quick to Sense my presence there and quickly looked right at me. I was frozen with fear from head to toe. “Did it want to eat me?” I thought but then it ran off. I breathed a sigh of relief as I headed home. “Elaine! You’re just on time for dinner!” My mum said. I quickly sat down and ate quietly. I finished dinner in a timely manner and headed off to bed. I told myself that I was going back to the forest tomorrow so I might have a chance to befriend it.

The next day when I headed back to the forest I saw a Death Breaker trying to kill the Night Swimmer. I tried to stop it but all I did was get myself a free scratch on my face. I started bleeding quickly but I didn’t care, I was going to save this Night Swimmer, even if it’s the last thing I do in this world. I grabbed A HUGE stick and walked it in the face. It felt like I was playing, Whack a Mole. The Death Breaker didn’t like me hitting him so he pounced on me. I was terrified by his extremely sharp, razor teeth and his sticky saliva. Right then and there the Night Swimmer grabbed the neck of the Death Breacker and through him against a tree. The Death Breaker whined with agony and ran away. I thanked the Night Swimmer for saving my life. It just nodded and left.

I went back the next day to see that the Night Swimmer wasn’t there. Since then I have been forever grateful and swore to my life, I will build a sanctuary for the Night Swimmers so they can live in peace, forever

“Thank you, Night Swimmer”
