Police Officer

So today we had a teacher come to our class but she wasn’t actually being a teacher, she was telling us about becoming a police officer because on Monday she is officially becoming a cop and since being a police woman is one of my dream jobs I was quite extract so I tried to ask questions that would be suitable for a police officer.

After the questions  went off to write our blog, I started to wonder about police dogs. While we were sitting on the mat listening to the police officer/teacher she explained about the delta team which is the people who have police dogs. “Like the people you see on dog squad” she said.

So I started wondering if a Belgian Malinois could be a police dog because they are very good at tracking, protecting and sniffing but then again, every dog is good at sniffing but it also depends on the speed and strength of the dog which makes it scary but also useful.

She explained how exactly you become a delta police officer. First you need to foster your own dog then go into training with that dog for I think three years then you say goodbye to that dog which is kind of sad but then you start working with a new dog.

After explaining how to become a delta she told us the 6 values of being an officer. The six values are being Courageous, having Respect having Empathy, Committed, being Professional and having integrity.

Athletics Day 2022

“BANG” My race had started. My heart was pounding and my hands were sweaty but I was ready to run as fast as I could. I started sprinting as hard and fast as possible but unfortunately I came second to last which was bad but all that mattered was that I tried really hard. Right in the middle of the race I heard one of my good mates shouting, “GOOO ELAINE!!!” So I started running faster and faster until I hit the end of the finishing line.

After I got off the track I went to see my mates in the grandstand and they all congratulated me on trying my hardest and giving it a go. Some moments later after having something to eat I went to go see some of my other friends race and they were incredible. One of my friends came second in the 100m sprint so that meant she was going to the finalist race and I was so proud of her. One of my other friends would have come third if he hadn’t fallen over so because he fell he came in fourth but I didn’t care. He was still outstanding and probably the fastest runner in my friend group.

After eating and playing with my friends on the grandstand I had to go to discus and it was quite incredible because I came in fourth which still wasn’t first but I didn’t mind. I was still proud of myself because again, I gave it a go and it turned out to be amazing. I had discus with one of my friends and they came in third so I was very amazed at how excited  they were.

My next and last activity was shot put and I didn’t really excel at that but honestly I didn’t really care because I did the best that I could in everything that i signed up for and it ended out being incredible because I knew where I was at for running and so I could get better and maybe one day become first in 100m sprint.

After all the events that happened everyone gathered up in the grandstand to watch the teachers race and to watch the finalists but most importantly, hear who one 2022 Athletics day. I went down and out of the grandstand to watch my friend race in the finalist race and she did amazing but after that was the announcement of which house won athletics 2022!!!!!! “IN FOURTH PLACE IS… GREEN” everyone started clapping and I started worrying. Worrying because I didn’t know if my house would come first, second or third. “IN THIRD PLACE COMES BLUE!!!!” And yet again everyone started clapping and my heart started pounding yet again but this time a little faster. “AND IN FIRST PLACE, THE HOUSE WHO HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING, CAN WE GET A DRUMROLL  PLEASE AND CONGRATULATIONS TO YELLOW!!!!” Everyone started clapping and yelling, so then I turned to my friends who are in red and did my victory dance. (They we’re SO happy)

Māori Language Week

This week is Māori language week. To be honest I don’t really like speaking Māori but hey, you can’t change reality

On Monday we had our normal whole school assembly. Near the end of the assembly the principal got everyone to stand up and sing Te Manurewa. It’s quite a popular song that my school sings, it also has actions that you can dance to

The next day. (Tuesday) One of the intermediate teachers set a daily quiz that everyone participated in. There were little notes hidden around each space and we had the job of collecting them. If the juniors  found a note they would have to take it to a teacher but if a senior found a note then they would have to email the teacher that set up the quiz.

On Wednesday we had to read Māori Stories to the year fours. We had to pair up with someone, grab some books and read to them for 30 minutes. After the 30 minutes we would go over to the year four space and Lear about body parts. It looked way different compared to when I was there. At 12:05 we had Māori minute of silence were we had to sing Te Manurewa.

In conclusion this week was pretty exciting but i will say im not really great at speaking different languages so I didn’t have an amazing week but i was fine.

If I could domesticate any animal in the world, what animal would it be and why?

For this week’s Blog, the topic was, If you domesticate any animal what animal would it be and why. So sense my favorite animal is a wolf, why not choose it.

If I could domesticate any animal I would definitely choose a black wolf because 1. They are my favorite animal, 2. They are good at protecting and hunting and 3. THEY ARE FREAKING ADORABLE AND MAJESTIC!!!

I would also choose wolf because they are the closest relative to dogs and sense dogs are already domesticated then the second option would just be wolf. People are probable wondering, “Elaine, why so specific? Why not just get any colour of wolf?” Well, I would be happy with any colour of wolf but with a black wolf, the wolf can hide in the shadows and never be caught, I mean, I did say I would use him for hunting.

I would probably name him Shadow, Leo, Chase or Link because Trust me I know they are quite common names but I really wanted to name my family’s puppy one of these names but we ended up changing it so now I have a chance.

Let’s just say, In conclusion I would love to have a wolf as a pet.

Canada

Today for Blog writing we had the topic of writing about the commonwealth. We could choose any country that we either lived in, or knew well. For me I chose Canada.

Canada is a country that is part of North America. It has two original languages, English and French. The capital city of Canada is Ottawa. There are 9 traditions in Canada. Cottage culture, May 2-4, Canadian Thanksgiving, Beaver Tails, St Jean Baptistery Day, ST Patrick’s Day Parade, Bloody Caesar and Halloween.

There are many more facts about Canada but im going to let you find out what they are. So in conclusion canada is quite a good and fun country!

Tree Planting

INTRODUCTION

In week 3 on the 10 of August, Mrs Davies gathered about 25 kids and 3 parents to take us to tree planting in Bombay. It was a very exciting day for all of us but it was extra exciting for me

WHAT WE DID FIRST

Once we had got off the bus everyone said hi to the farm dog then sat down and had some morning tea. After everyone had eaten the farmer who owned the land came to talk to us about what and what not to do.

WHAT WE DID AFTER THAT

After everyone had gotten ready the farmer led us to where we were going to be planting the trees. She gave us a demonstration on what to do so we didn’t mess anything up because honestly, I had no idea of what I was doing. After the demonstration we started planting the trees and boy, there were a bunch of trees.

WHAT WE DID NEXT

600 trees later we headed back to have some lunch and let me tell you, that lunch was SOOOOO GOOD!!!! One of the ladies cooked vegetarian sausages and beef sausages which were very nice. Oh and I tried the eggs, ummm, I didn’t like them. After the lunch they brought out desserts and they had LAMINGTONS which I cleared out.

CONCLUSION

Once everyone was done eating we played around for a bit then gathered around the farmer to say goodbye. She thanked us for coming, then we got on the bus and left. In conclusion It was a very good and well needed trip

Who’s My Hero?

My Definition of a hero

When someone asks me what I think a hero is I tell them they need to meet my expectations for example, they need to be helpful, kind and exciting. I’m a person that can get really bored really easily so if I had a hero that was exitinting it wouldn’t make me bored.

  Who is my hero?

When someone asks me “who’s your hero” I immediately think of Marvel and say Black Widow (She’s my Marvel hero) but then they correct me and ask me again “who’s your hero?” but then they tell me in real life and then It takes me a minute to think about it. My hero is kind, funny, cool, fun, maybe a little shy and definitely crazy. My hero is (drum roll) SAMAYRA NAICKER. She’s my hero because she’s funny, kind, crazy and always makes me smile.

Swimming

WHY I DIDN’T GO SWIMMING

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to go swimming on Wednesday because I got sick but I had company at home so I was alright.

WHAT I COULD’VE DONE INSTEAD OF SWIMMING

honestly I love swimming and think that it’s really important but if I had any other sport to learn and get better at I would probably choose Archery or maybe Fencing Archery because I love bows and would love to learn how to use one and fencing because It would help with my sword skill and self defence.

The Weekly Review

INTRODUCTION

For today’s blog we decided to write about the week that had just past. I will be writing about Tuesday, Wendenday, and Thursday!

TUESDAY (My Birthday)

I had just woken up from my slumber and had just realised that it was my birthday! I shot out of my bed and raced to my mother and asked where my gifts were. She told me to wait for her to get out of the shower then she would get my gifts. After opening my gifts and getting ready I headed off to school with a big smile on my face. At school all my friends wished me happy birthday and I was so thankful but one of my friends decided to make a bet with me. He said if my hole class sang me happy birthday throughout the day he could pick something out of my lunch box but if they didn’t sing me happy birthday throughout the day then he would have to give me something out of his lunch box and guess what, I won the bet so I got something out of his lunch box!

WEDNESDAY (Cross Country)

I woke up in bed thinking it was just a Normal day but then it hit me, smack in the face. It was Cross Country. I screamed out and cried but then I heard a voice from the bathroom saying “Elaine shush, I’m trying to have a shower in peace” It was my mother so I replied saying that it was Cross Country and she did not care. I got out of bed and did my morning routine with a tired yet excited face. On the inside I felt quite confident but right before the race started I immediately felt that confidence melt away. Honestly I shouldn’t have had high hopes because I ended coming last but  I’m glad I gave it a go. One of my other friends came last but he wasn’t really bothered by it either

THURSDAY (Music/Wellbeing for P3)

Before morning tea the teachers reminded us that Piwakawaka 3 had music and wellbeing after and that we should go straight to the Zen Den instead of coming back to the piwaka space. I’m in Piwakawaka 3 so after eating and playing, me and my Best Friend walked to the Zen Den. That day we only had Well Being  because the music teacher was sick and staying home. We didn’t really do much except for playing last card.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion I had a pretty good week. Maybe except for Cross Country but I still had fun overall.
