Term 1 – Information Report – The Stars
– The Stars –
INTRODUCTION : Don’t you ever look up at the night sky and you see little dots twinkle? Well, those are stars! Stars are giant balls of gas that’s mostly made up of hydrogen. To us humans, stars are little dots in the sky.
What do they look like?
To us, stars look like little white sparkly dots in the sky! But if you zoom in closer to the stars, then you can actually see what it looks like! Stars are also made up of gas just like our sun! They’re made up of hydrogen (mostly) stars glow like hot balls of gas in space. Even though stars are giant balls of flames in space, we still see them as white shiny dots in the sky.
Life cycle.
A stars life starts with birth at first, then it expands! Stars first start out as a giant dust of cloud called a nebulae. The gravity forces the dust to stick together, as more dust gets together the stronger gravity gets! And it gets hot and becomes a protostar, when the centre gets really hot nuclear fusion will begin and the star is born! When hydrogen runs out, the outside of the star expands and it becomes a red giant. But, eventually the stars core will start to make iron. This causes the star to collapse, which depends on how much mass it had (or, how big it was.) A normal star would become a white dwarf star, but larger stars would create a huge nuclear explosion called a ‘supernova’ after, the supernova may become a black hole or neutron star. So, a stars life is like our human life! First, you get born then you grow up and become old. Then die!
How many stars?
According to astronomers, there are about 200 billion trillion stars in our universe! Astronomers also say that there are 100 billion stars in the milkely wave alone.
Conclusion : Stars are little dots in the beautiful night sky, look at them as they twinkle in the sky. Want to learn more? What do they look like? Stars in space look like hot giant balls of red hot gas! Stars don’t really look like that for us though, their just plain old white for us but in space their really different. Life cycle, a stars life cycle is truly amazing! It starts with birth at first, then it starts to expand, it depends on what type of star it is. How many stars are in the sky? There are many stars, like about 200 billion trillion stars in our universe! If you want more info on stars, go to:
