S2-STEAM: Guardians of the EARTH Kaitiakitanga
Week 1: Water Cycle
What do I know about the water cycle: The main steps of the water cycle are: Evaporation, Condensation, Precipitation and Collection. Evaporation is when liquid from the ground turns into gas. Condensation is the change from the change of gas phase to liquid phase and Precipitation is when liquid or frozen water that forms in the atmosphere that falls back down to earth. And Collection is when water falls from clouds as rain, hail, snow, or sleet that collects it into the ocean/sea/lake/river.
What do I want to learn about the water cycle and cycles in natural: I want to learn about different life cycles like life cycle of a rock and life cycle of things in natural!
What did you do on Tuesday’s session: On Tuesday Miss Wang lay out five large sheets of paper on the floor and on the tables. Then Miss Wang told all of us to get a black pen and go write what we know about on each of the papers. The titles on the papers were all related to the water cycle, Air/Life forms/Water/Soil and Rock/Plants. Then, after that we all sat on the mat and we got to hold some ice in a jar. Then we got into some groups and we weighed the ice and some of us thought that if the ice melted it would still stay the same, some of us thought that the ice wouldn’t change. When we finished melting the ice we putted it on a scale to measure the ice and nothing changed. The weight was the same as it had been before, 4.13g. After that, Miss Wang told us to draw a water cycle on sketches school.
