What is a hero?

What do you think a hero is? Well, you may think it’s superman or batman but that’s not what i think. My definition of a hero is someone that is always there when you need them, will do anything for you and is just very friendly. The values of a hero to me are boldness, kindness, sacrifice and bravery.

My hero is probably the nurses at the hospital that helped me with my arm. I choose them because right now they are sacrificing their own lives to save other kids lives and that is a very special job. As they work they are so kind and put your lives first as well as being brave to fix whatever may be happening.

In summary, I chose them as my hero because if they didn’t fix my arm I would have to be put to sleep and possibly end up having something worse. All the heroes in the world are amazing and brave and deserve to be recognised.

Why Miss Thompson (Me) is the best teacher

My name is Miss Thompson and I am the maths teacher at The Gardens School. In fact I’m the best maths teacher you would have ever seen. I teach equations, number sequence and input and output numbers most days but some days it changes. Let me explain what each of these ways means so that you get an idea. Equation is where you add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers to get an end result number e.g 6+4-3=?. After adding them together you get an end number so for that equation it would be 7. Now number sequence, number sequins can be easy but it can get out of hand after a while. So here is an example on what it will look like 19, 21, 23 so what you need to do is see how many numbers each number is apart so it would be two. Now input and output numbers are very easy or very hard but the main idea of it is where you have a number then follow the steps it shows you and end with a new number. Now after telling you a bit about what i do let me explain why i’m the best maths teacher. Firstly whenever my students answer a question they get a lolly but if they answer it correctly they get two lollies. I also let my chosen students choose what to do sometimes but i like it too because that means no one for me to watch.

Georgia’s Fabulous Life

She was born on August 1st and weighed 3.17kgs. Her name is Georgia. As Georgia grew up she would spend most of the time playing with her four brothers Jericho, Vincent, Kaden and Xavier. When she moved to Auckland she went to The Gardens School and made many friends. She loved animals so much that at the age of 9 her parents got Georgia her own dog named Layla. As she got older she had a passion for animals and wanted to be a vet.

After graduating high school she went to the University of Auckland to study how to be a vet. A few months later she got a job as a vet and eventually got promoted to being the boss. Her dream of becoming a vet had come true and she loved the job she had. Even though she was only 21 she became very successful in life. Some days were sad for her because she had to deliver bad news but some days were great like playing with puppies.

A few years passed and things were going great until there was a war that started Ukraine. Even though Georgia was a vet she got very interested in this war so she would always watch the news about it. One night She was watching the news and found out some terrible news that families with pets had to leave their pets behind to die. Georgia wanted to change this so she thought of some ideas and went to the government to discuss their plan and sure enough they had agreed. Georgia’s plan was to fly to Iceland and bring along some pet care and pet cages so that families could bring their animals with them onto the plane and have a place to put their animals. Georgia’s plan worked and saved many animals’ lives.

Ten years later, Georgia was out shopping for some pet supplies when the grocery store got robbed. Georgia tried to escape but as she was running the robbers recognised her face and got so jealous that they shot right down in her chest and she tragically died. Everyone was so devastated because she had saved many people’s lives that they carried on her legacy. They made a vet clinic in memory of her and many people went there. They also made a rescue team where whenever something like that happens they can do just what Georgia did to save those animals.

Life living in lockdown

Tuesday 6 August we were waiting to find out the news If we were going into lockdown or not. Just then I knew it, we were going into lockdown But it might not be for long until we find out on Monday. When I did find out the news I was shocked and devastated because the last time we got out of lockdown we were all perfectly fine but I guess it went down hill. The first New Zealand went into lockdown was 21 March 2020 last year, and we also had one earlier this year in February.

Layla loves going for walks and my dad loves taking photos with his camera, So what better way to go and do that when it’s locked down. My brothers didn’t want to go at first but when my dad said they can go play rugby they were in the mood to go. Almost every night we would have so much fun on the trampoline playing games such as rugby, tag, double bouncing it was one of the best things to do. The Thompson’s family love playing sports so we decided to have a 3v3 basketball, My team won like always. All the times that we had lockdown we would watch a movie. Not just sitting there we slept  in the lounge after watching and we would have heaps of snacks while watching a movie. We watched Fatherhood! It’s about a dad that had to raise his daughter all by himself due to the fact his wife died after birth, it’s a great movie. Sometimes I get bored so I FaceTime my family and friends. Asking if they want to play games.

I went around the house asking my family how they felt when we had to go into lockdown and who they were missing the most. For me I missed seeing the rest of my family and going to their house to stay the night. My dad felt that there was nothing really to worry about because he knew that we would be safe with the pony that we have been in before. Jericho felt gutted because his 1st XV rugby was still going and he wanted to finish the season off. It was so important to him because it was a big opportunity.

Vincent was the same he felt Disappointed because his team was about to go off to the 2021 Junior premiership opportunity. And you can tell by now we do truly love our sports so it was really hard for all of us because our last games for our season were coming up in netball, basketball and rugby.

Most of us were upset and shocked but for it to help stop the virus you gotta do what helps. If you take my advice then I would recommend you to stay home, keep clean and healthy. Please can you because I really don’t want to stay home all day with my brothers. When do you think the virus will stop?

My Super power

My super power

This term we have been learning how and why we have a blog. Each week we have a set task or theme for our writing. This week it is all about our great superpowers. Not just any super power like flying, super speed, all that stuff. It is actually about what other people think about you. Whether you are kind, helpful, a great role model so many things that make them happy about you and that make yourself happy. I asked two of my really well known friends Danae and Imogen, since I already had two friends I asked my parents to do one.

My Superpowers are that I am very caring to others and helpful all the time when needed.

I am a great mum to my dog Layla and I am very selfless in everything I do. Lots of people tell me this all the time. They say that I am organised all the time, like my school clothes on my bed, my lunchbox out and ready for the next morning. At school or at home or even in an Airport I can entertain myself and others by doing silly voices or weird move’s so many (TALENTED) things I can entertain you with. This one is very true. I am self motivated but that doesn’t stop me not even a little bit from helping others. I am Honest, well most of the time but if it’s for a surprise then that is when I lie.

I can make someone sad smile. I have begun to be a great role model for kids younger than me or older than me. When someone needs help they can ask me for help anywhere anytime. Finally this one is from my parents. I am Unique in my own special way.

When I first read what they wrote about me my heart melted. I had never really thought about my superpowers that way, I guess everyone feels like that. Most of the time at home or with friends and family they don’t really tell you that. Normally they will reward you or just say thanks Georgia or my aunty would say thanks GG. I think that most people in the world have the same superpowers, they just never physically show it. I think that my parents and friends are all very kind and caring.

Do you want to know what your superpowers are? Then ask your friends, family members or people that are really close to you to write about it. I challenge you to ask your close ones to write what they think your superpowers are and write your own blog about it.

My favourite Olympic sport

My favourite sport in the Olympics is Rugby league and Swimming. I like watching Rugby league because it’s very fun to play and exciting when your favourite team is winning and  the last whistle blows at the end of the game. My whole family loves playing Rugby so when Rugby is on for the Olympics we all watch together.

I also like Swimming although my siblings don’t. Despite that I like to watch swimming because I personally like Swimming myself. Some people think that swimming is so boring because you have to do so many things after and before going swimming. I don’t really care because it’s their opinion and my opinion is that I do like swimming.

My Holiday

On Friday it was our last day in Paihia so we did a lot of fun things. In the morning we went to a different pool that wasn’t heated but got warm after 5 minutes. An hour later we were on our way to Russel on a car fairy. It was really cool. When we got to Russel we decided to go for a walk to the beach but before that we obviously had to stop to get some ice cream. Cookies

and cream is my favourite ice cream so I got that. After our ice cream we stopped Did you have an awesome school holiday? Well I did! In the second week of On the school holiday, Xavier, Kaden, and I went up north to Paihia with our grandparents.

Usually in the school holiday I spend the first week with my mum before she goes back to work in the second week and goes up north to Paihia with my grandparents in the second week.

The next morning it was a beautiful day so we decided to go for a swim at the indoor heated pool in kawakawa. It was only around 20-30 minutes to get there which wasn’t that long. The pool was really warm and it felt so nice. When we got back from our swim it was around 6:00 so we made some nice burgers, played a game then went to bed.

Thursday morning we decided to go to Kerekere where all the shops are. After getting some clothes and shoes we went to have some lunch at a restaurant. I got a juicy burger and fries. It was DELICIOUS!  After that lunch we were all so full, surprisingly so we went home and chilled for the rest of the day. For dinner then went back home to end our holiday.

I love the school holidays because it’s really fun to spend time with family and friends. I hoped you had the best school holidays just like me. I really think that the two weeks we have is a perfect amount of time for us.
