Reflection

Today the kahu hapori went to Totara park, to learn about our guardians of the galaxy for the theme of our project. We spent most of our time at the park doing long bush walks and taking photos of the plants and trees that were there. We went to learn about our environment and our waterways. We used an app called seek to take photos and once we took the photo we could know all the details about the plant and trees. The Seek app is so easy to use it makes it so much more fun and easier to find out different types of thing about the plants.

I was lots of cool things today when we were at Totara park, I was lots of different types of plants and types of fungi. We was a type of mushroom today and it was called vermilion waurap mushroom. I also learnt more about nīkau palm, karaka, dicotes, rimu, silver fern, and more about the rangiora. It was a 7.5/10 rating for me.

This week we went to botanical gardens. There were so many different things and plants there. I was very different from Totara park at the botanical garden. I had so many nice Fowlers . We got put into groups. I was in my teachers group miss rowland. I saw a lot of dicot plants and a lot of vascular trees. My favourite plant at the botanical garde was the camellias. They are so pretty and small like beauty. Overall I had a fantastic time at the botanical garden. I got to collaborate with people I don’t really know. It was a 8/10 rating for me.

Octopus

by Gurleen kaur

A man came the door creeped open boom The octopus was in the sink

Having a minty pink bath

The pink on the octopus was bright and shiny like a Diamond.

With a little bit of a shiny pink.

In the middle of the night.

I took 3 million hours to get ready for the next day.

To get ready for a hight of a  might night.

I was going to go to my school

For a school exam

To have high points.

For my new pet

These first few days in kahu have been good and weird they have been good because we have new people in our Hapori and little bit weird because they is no more yr 9s and it is very calm and quiet without them there.

I have learnt lots of new things in kahu 2024 Compared to last year things are just so much more diffident and a bit difficult just a bit.

Just like last year we had jobs and this year I applied for a PTA ambassador and a house captain and a foodtastic ambassador I hope I get the house captain role because I love to be a leader and love to do sports a d I applied for the role foodtastic ambassador because I love to cook and bake.

Sports day & sports teams

What are sports?

Sport’ is a physical activity which, through casual or organised participation, aims at expressing or improving physical fitness and mental wellbeing, forming social relationships or obtaining results in competition at all levels.

How many teams have I made it in for sports?

By far I have made it into every single team for school sports. My recent sports were touch basketball, volley & softball. I have done all of the sports at school and I am in the team for badminton and I enjoy all of them. I

My favourite sports and why?

My favourite sport in school is basketball because I think that I have learned a lot from basketball but my favourite sport outside of school is field hockey. I love field hockey. I play Striker or right wing.

What is field hockey?

Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with eleven players in total, made up of ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams have to move a hockey ball around a pitch by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the team’s shooting circle and then into the goal.

One day I came to school and I was wondering if no one was here. It was so Weird I what to take a look in the class but no one was there. And it all happened because I slept in. I woke up late, ran to school and tried to open the library door but they were locked but the office door was open, where is everyone? I was looking around the kahu space, the hall, office, field, bleachers, upstairs, downstairs but there was nobody.

I tried to email or call my teachers or parents’ friends but no one answered. I tried to check my wataka and I could not believe my eyes. My favourite day of the year was athletes day. It was athletics, everyone was at athletics.

I want to go find some snacks. I made a toastie hot chocolate coffee tea. I went to the breakfast club. I had so much fun alone at school to be honest I could run around, draw, make a fort jump on the couch and play music. But I was Exhausted but Suddenly I here’d lots of noise, screaming, cheering, running, jumping. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a bus pull up outside and everyone was back. Everyone was in their house colours, people were so happy and this all happened just because I slept in.

VR

Trem 4

VR

On Thursday we went to VR with my class and VR stands Virtual Reality. We learned about sea life and pollution. There were different places to go to. We had 2 teachers whose names were Grace and Alice.

We had a look at polluted water and unpolluted water. Polluted water looks like green and dusty unpolluted water looks clean and you can see far away in clean water. It also  has lots of seaweed but in polluted water there are lots of skinny Kina.

The animals in the VR were very cool. It was 3D. The best things in VR are the 3D slides and the animals.

We also learned about sea life and sea animals and we also learned about the best ways to not use too much plastic I said use less single use plastic. We had to come up with the best ways to have less plastics in the oceans and if you go to a beach and the bin is full, take  your rubbish with you and put it in your bin at home.

We looked under water to see different types of sea life and different types of caves. The next thing that we did was what is healthy and what is unhealthy for the water and animals. The best way to have more fish in the ocean is less fishing but if you do want to don’t take more than you need.

I think we need signs of how much fish you can take every day.

But in my Opinion I give this VR Session a 10 out of ten because I learned a lot about sealifes and sea animals and also how to use a VR set.
