Matariki

What is Matariki? Matariki is a celebration, it is celebrated in New Zealand, Hawaii and many other countries and cities all around the globe. It is a time of renewal that begins with the rising of the Matariki star cluster in mid-winter. It’s a time to gather with your family and look back on the past and celebrate the present. Honouring those we have lost since the last rising Matariki and gathering together to give thanks for what we have. It has many names around the world like In English, it’s called by its ancient Greek name, Pleiades or the Seven Sisters. In Japan, it is Subaru meaning “Gathered together”.
