Reflection

What did I do well? I think I did well on the instruments because it looks very detailed and nice.

What will I do next time? I will definitely try to add more detail to the face because  it doesn’t look as detailed as I wanted it to be.

what did I learn? I learned all about New Zealand artist that I did not know about because I didn’t really know what about but now I know Lorde, Brooke Fraser and much more?

1. When was rugby introduced to NZ and by who?

A: Rugby was introduced in 1870 by Charles Monro.

2. When did NZ play their first Rugby game?

A: NZ played their first game on may 1870.

3. When did NZ play their first international game? Did they win or lose? What was the score?

A: NZ played their first international game in 1893, but lost , the score was 6-8

4. When was the NZ team called the All Blacks? Why are they know as the All Blacks? 

A: The NZ rugby team found the name AllBlacks in 1893 but before that they were the New Zealand Māori. They got their name by the uniforms because their uniforms were the “Blackest of the black”

Name three of the best players, what are they  known for?

A: Richie McCaw holds the world record for test Appearances. Jonah Tali Lomu he is the top player in 1995 Rugby World Cup. Colin Meads greatest player to ever take the field by many people.

why do the All Blacks perform the haka before each match? What does it mean and what do they perform it for?

A: They do the haka before each match because it lets the other team know they’re serious and are bringing their all!!

Ernest Rutherford-The Triatomic Molecules

This week in STEAM, we had a super cool activity where we became history detectives! 🕵️‍♀️🕵️‍♂️

In small groups, we were given a famous New Zealander to learn about. Some of us had Sir Edmund Hillary, the first man to climb Mount Everest! Others learned about Jean Batten, the amazing pilot who flew all the way across the world 🌍✈️. Some of us even explored the life of Ernest Rutherford, the scientist who helped discover atoms! ⚛️

In my group we had Cassandra,Olivia and I ,we worked together to find important dates in their lives – like when they were born, when they did something amazing, and when they changed the world. We put all our facts in order to make a giant timeline on a big sheet of paper. It was like building a story of their life!

We turned our paper timelines into awesome digital timelines on Canva. We added pictures, and fun colours to make them pop! 💻🎨

We learned:

  • How to work as a team 🤝
  • How to make sure the facts are true and not false👍🏻
  • How to use digital tools like Canva 👩‍💻👨‍💻

It was fun learning about these brave and clever Kiwis. We think they would be proud of our timelines!

⭐️I didn’t know that Ernest Rutherford had a wife.
⭐️ I learned the Ernest Rutherford spit the atom in The University of Manchester in England.
⭐️“Ernest Rutherford was super smart! I liked finding his science discoveries🔬
