Guardians of the world (persuasive writing)

Did you know our beloved Earth is in danger if you don’t know why? I will tell you. Our earth is in critical condition so this is why I am informing you that there is no planet b. Our earth is not doing well right now so this I why I need you to spread the word, there is tons of huge problems but 1 of the biggest problem is pollution and we can fix that.

Pollution is really fatal for the environment because it just makes it way to the ocean which is extremely dangerous for aquatic animals. Just look at the condition of our loved Puhinui stream? It was once a beautiful eco system having so much biodiversity until pollution took over. Now it’s a place for people to dump their rubbish. This is some people’s local ecosystem and maybe even yours?

So this is why I ask you to stop littering, because it has an immense impact on our earth. Now I have to ask you, would you want a planet filled with rubbish? I know I wouldn’t and i’m guessing you wouldn’t either. So let’s make a substantial effect on the planet! So we can save our glorious planet. So make an impact!

There are so many innumerable ways to fix it. We could use paper instead of plastic which is adequate for the environment and we could use social media to ask people to come on down to the Puhinui stream/water ways to help pick up rubbish. It would do a significant amount of help towards being 1 step closer to pollution-free earth. Also remember there is no planet b.

Tōtara Park/botanic gardens reflection.

Totara park: on Tuesday 30 July 2024 we went to tōtara park. If you don’t know what tōtara park is you are missing out on tons, let me explain. Tōtara park is one of the most beautiful places in NZ. When we got there we were split into classes so half of the hapori would go on one trail, and the other half would go the other way and eventually we would switch trails. This semester our focus was on kaitiakitanga which means protecting the environment. We also found so many species of plants, insects and more. I also found a fantail which kept hopping around, there was also some fungus and mushrooms!

Botanic gardens: 1 week after the trip to tōtara park we came to botanic gardens which was roughly around 20ish minutes. Once we got there we made groups instead of putting half in that side and half here. Instead we had groups which weren’t in home whanau, we also saw tons of cool plants that looked funny, and we also discovered so many stuff! We also saw some ducks and pūkekos! My group also went to Puhinui stream which is located in tōtara park, which was very far but I really loved both experiences and I would recommend going there in your free time!

Here are some photos of tōtara park/botanic gardens

My experience at polyfest!

My experience at polyfest was great! We saw so many cool people doing dances on stage. Even that’s out of my comfort zone. We even met some police officers and we could win 50$ from them. We also saw so many cultures Tongan,Filipino,Indian,Samoan and more. We also could win prizes by people choosing you form your school Third was chosen and won a free ASB water bottle. People also did pushups on stage for a free grip tennis ball, personally my favourite was Filipino because it was so unique which made me like it. There was so many stuff everywhere and the place was filled with more than around 10 police officers that’s the most I’ve seen. We were also following a nyeun flag that kept going to different stages and at one point we were at the stands and saw Māori dancing. We also had groups with a parent/teacher so we won’t get lost I had around 6 people in my group but I knew none of them well and my experience at polyfest was great I say out of 10 it’s 11. Because it is so unique and quite fun.

The monster and the 2 men

One day the building started to rumble, the 2 men thought it was the end of the world until they heard a monster screaming at the top of his lungs, and did a big grumble.

The two men felt like they could have just heard a sound, or cartoon named Ben ten.

Then they were hit with a cold breeze and started to freeze.

The monster took a step, which felt like King Kong jumping.

Then the building was in deep asleep again.

The two men started to scream, as they thought they were going to dream, thinking they were going to die of screaming.

Until they saw the monster getting confused a grenade flew to the monster then, BOOM!

WACK! SMACK! A sword flew across the debris, and hit the monster RRROOOAAARR! Cried the monster.

The monster swung his whip and set everything into a blaze that looked like a maze.

The 2 men stared and feared  for their life thinking “why did I come here in the first place”.

The 2 men striked.   and disliked the monster, then cut it into a trillion pieces

The monster was now on the floor and turned into magma and plasma.

I really liked digital art and I am excited to do it again since our teachers told us we’re doing it again. This is my work we did from a few days ago and if you weren’t there you will have tons of fun when we do digital art again.

Lantern art!

Today was the day we were doing lantern art? I started off by joining teams with Almaan and Manveer. Next we started watching a lantern art video which was so confusing but manveer understood and helped us understand. Then after 20 minutes we were almost done that’s when things took a turn. Turns out we had to make our own I was devastated but I didn’t give up. So I went to my other friend Shivesh and got help from him once he made me understand I made my own lantern by 30 minutes thanks to my good friend Shivesh and now I’m helping other people who don’t understand.

How to play football

1. Today I wanted to do something productive so I decided to play football. It was the perfect morning to play some football so I did all the natural stuff like chores, eating breakfast and watching tv. I looked outside and saw it was sunny. I was glad and relieved that it was not raining outside since I was gonna go play football.

2. After lunch I watched a movie,I checked my watch and it was 3:30 PM so I asked my dad to pick me up and by the time we reached home it was 3:45 PM time to go to school so I messaged everyone and said school? They replied with “sure, ok ,alright, coming” I got all really, got my football boots ready and my football and went to school.

3. Now you’re probably wondering what’s football? So football is a fantastic sport that includes running, passing, dribbling, shooting and defending. You’re now thinking that THAT’S SO MUCH WORK, well it’s not that much actually. In total there are 11 players in a football team. There are also different kinds of formations, positions and you have a coach and manager and the way you win is you have to try to shoot the ball into the goal.

4. It also depends on what formation your coach makes for your team and each formation has different positions. The positions at the front are striker, left wing and right wing at the middle which is the hardest are mid,cm,cdm, left mid and right mids. They are the most useful since they have to right toward to help strikers and they have to run back to defend. Now we are in the back row, they are the ones who defend the other team’s striker and they are left back, right back and defender. Last but not least we have a goalie, the goalie can use his hands but there is a box radius drawn in white paint on the field.

5. Personally I play midfielder since midfielder is my favourite position. The rules in football are that they can’t touch the ball with their hand only the goalkeepers can. In football if you tackle the player it is a foul and you will receive a yellow card or if the referee sees that the tackle is not that deadly and it barely hits him he won’t give you a yellow card. But you will receive a warning. If you hit the ball while tackling and hit the player but hit the ball first it is no yellow card or warning. If you do REALLY DEADLY! It is a red card and you will be sent off the field for the whole match.

6. In football there can be subs which means there are some people on the bench that are waiting when someone gets tired and then their coach puts them on the field. Football can be very fun but dangerous at the same time. In my opinion I think the goalie is the easiest and the most dangerous since If your team is good and have the ball basically the whole time you just stand in goal the whole time. But sometimes you can die by swallowing your tongue as a goalie since when a player jumps up and is about to hit it in the goal, but the goalie jumps up and gets hit by his knee or something then there is a high chance of swallowing the tongue.

7. There is one complicated thing in football there is something called offside. Offside is when someone is behind the last player of the other team. Because if I stand behind them someone could pass to me and easy goal. Also there is a 6 second rule for goalies if the goalie picks up the ball he has 6 seconds to kick it if he doesn’t well the other team gets a free kick and if the scores are tied there is golden goal which means whoever scores wins. Or there is extra time which means keep playing. What I like is penalties. A person goes near the goal and puts the ball on a white spot and takes a shot and there are 5 shots. So if my team scores 3 and the other scores 0 we automatically win but if it is tied like my team scored 5 and they scored 5 it’s a carry on then.

Week 7: VR Blog writing

In VR I learnt a lot of stuff like how to put a VR set on our head the first time I put it on it felt weird. But afterwards I got used to it and before we started they told us a lot of stuff in the ocean then we turned it on.

They told us they will show 2 pictures and we tell which is cleaner. The first one had blue ocean fish, snapper, seaweed and more well the second one had only sea urchins which ate all the seaweed and no snappers to eat the sea urchins.

They even told us how much pollution there is and sir Peter Blake was a very good man. He used to go boat racing but he found a new passion caring for the environment. But sadly he passed away because one day he was at the Amazon river and he got shot by pirates. But still at least they made a sir Peter Blake foundation

We also saw some marine reserves. It was the cleanest place ever because nobody does anything. The cool things about sponges are they feed on water but if dirt gets stuck on the sponge they can’t get water. There was even a stingray and one stingray gave a high five. It was very funny.

Goat Island was very clean but the bad part was there were no goats and some people even asked “are there goats?” Of course not because the island was in the middle of nowhere. But the ocean was clean it was filled with sea life it was so clean.
