Kaitiaki of the entire world

Always take care of the environment that is more valuable than gold

Inside the oceans where the whales live

The kaitiaki take care of the marine animals with love

Inside the forest where the kiwis sleep

All the kaitiaki keep the animals with hope

Kaitiakitanga, which means guardianship

It is a word that is all about stewardship

The kaitiaki are people who care about water and land

All the people can be guardians with generous mind

Neither for humans and the earth

Go and give your role as a guardian for the world’s health

And the more we give, the more we will get back from the earth

John Ronald Reuel Tolkein was an English writer and philologist. He was born on 3 January 1892 in Republic of South Africa. He was the author of the high fantasy works ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’. ‘The Hobbit’ is one of the best books of all time, with over 100 million copies sold. ‘The Lord of the Rings’ is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential film series ever made. The three films were shot simultaneously in Peter Jackson’s native New Zealand. In Tolkein’s early childhood he could read by age of four, and could write soon afterwards. He read many books in his childhood, because his mother, Mabel, allowed him to read many books. He disliked ‘Treasure Island’ and ‘The Pied Piper’ and thought ‘Alice’s adventures in wonderland’ was ‘amusing but disturbing’. However he liked stories about ‘Red Indians’ and ‘Fairy Books’. Young Tolkein liked to draw landscapes and trees, but his favourite lessons were conceding languages. And It’s because Mabel taught him the rudiments of Latin very early. But his great teacher Mabel died when he was 12 which is 9 years after his father Arthur’s death. Before Mabel’s death, she had assigned the guardianship of her sons to her close friend, Francis Xavier Morgan of the Birmingham Oratory. So after Mabel’s death, Tolkein grew up in the Edgaston area of Birmingham.

These first days have been new because there was new people and new activities.

I have learnt about Book Standards.

There are many new jobs in Kahu and I have applied for Librarian and Interior Designer.

And Lantern Art was fun because I like to make anything like this.

I am looking forward to new clubs because clubs are my favourite activity in my school.

 Our school’s vacation for terms 1, 2, and 3 lasts approximately 16 days. It means that school holidays are very short, lasting less than three weeks. However, most students and teachers want more recess and free time. School holidays at The Gardens school should be longer. Why do school holidays have to be longer? Now let’s find out why.

 The reasons why school vacations should be longer are as follows. First, you can spend more time with your family. Students and teachers all have their own families. Of course, they will want to spend time with their families during the holidays. Longer vacations allow students and teachers to spend more time with their families. They can also go on long family trips during school holidays or visit family members if they live far away. Therefore, vacations should be longer so that students and teachers can spend more time with their families.

Second, you can have more time to study what you need. Each student will know which subjects they lack or need. And there’s no better time than vacation to study these things. Supplementing the subjects you lack during vacation will have a positive impact on your study of those subjects. As the vacation gets longer, you can increase the time to study the subjects you need and what you want to learn. All students should be able to fully study what they need and want to learn. Therefore, vacations must be long so that students can study what they need.

Third, both students and teachers can enjoy more free time. Free time is something everyone at our school needs. because free time gives everyone energy and enjoyment. Students and teachers can use their free time to relax or play. And if they want, they can use their free time to pursue their hobbies. If students and teachers have enough free time during vacation, they will be able to work harder on everything when they go back to school. Therefore, vacations must be longer to allow teachers and students more free time. 

So far, we have looked into why school vacations should be longer. As mentioned earlier, longer vacations allow both students and teachers more time with family, exercise, and study. And of course, you will have plenty of free time. Therefore, the vacations at The Gardens school must be longer.
