J.R.R Tolkien and his amazing books.

J.R.R. Tolkien was a famous author best known for writing  The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series. He was born on January 3 1892 in South Africa. But he moved to england when he was very young. Tolkien loved languages and even created his own books. He worked as a professor at oxford university where he taught english literature and worked on his stories.

Tolkiens books are set in a world called middle earth which is filled with hobbits, elves, dwarves, and other creatures that he created. The Hobbit published in 1937 tells the story of Bilbo Baggins a hobbit who goes on an adventure with a group of dwarves to steal treasure from a dragon named Smaug. Smaug is a dragon that stole the dwarfs gold and there home and killed all of the kind. In the hobbit book there are thirteen dwarfs the dwarfs are called: Dwalin, Balin , Kili, Fili ,Dori , Nori , Ori, Oin ,Gloin, Bifur , Bofur ,Bombur and Thorin.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy which came out in 1950 is about the quest to destroy a powerful ring that can control the world. These books are very popular and have been made into successful movies.

J.R.R. Tolkiens work has had a huge impact on fantasy literature and has inspired many other writers. People love his books because of the detailed world he created and the exciting adventures. Even today, his stories are read and loved by people of all ages. Tolkien passed away on September 2 1973 but his legacy continues to live on through his books and the many adaptations of his work.
