Tui 4 blog post term 3

This term in Tūī 4 we have been learning about the famous New Zealander author, Lynley Dodd. Lynley Dodd is an author of Hairy Maclary and friends, we have also been learning about a poem for Lynley Dodd and the actions for it. We ended up performing it during our own Tūī assembly and it was awesome! There were multiple groups such as the super CapCut group, Schnitzel Von Krumm, Slinky Malinki and many more. We had to learn the actions for our Lynley Dodd assembly and spent days. The super CapCut group who was Joseph, Leo, Isaac, Isla and malakai worked on a CapCut video for many   days. The CapCut had us and a photo of the character we were working on. Days after the assembly we finally finished our CapCut to show everyone. Lynley Dodd is 84 years old and was born on 5 July 1941.

Sir Edmund Hillary

Sir Edmund Hillary was the first person to climb Mount Everest with Tenzing Norgay. He was a mountaineer, a beekeeper and an Air Force navigator World War II. Sir Edmund Hillary Married in 21 December 1989 to June Mulgrew, but before that he married Liouse Mary rose in September 3 1953. His achievements were being one of the first two people to reach the summit of Mount Everest in 1953, leading the first land expedition to the South Pole in 1958, and undertaking philanthropic work by establishing schools, hospitals, and airstrips for the Sherpa people of Nepal through the Himalayan Trust. Sir Edmund Hillary climbed his first mountain, Mount Ollivier in 1939. Sir Edmund Hillary sadly died in 1975 due to a plane crash. Sir Edmund Hillary Was knighted in 1953 and had kids in 1954. Sir Edmund Hillary Sadly died in 11 January 2008 in Auckland.

 

Brooke Fraser blog post

This semester we have been learning about a famous NZ artist/singer Brooke Fraser. Did you know that Brooke Fraser released her first album when she was just 19! She is a very talented music artist and a big inspiration for young musicians all over the world. In 2003, she released her debut single, Better, which peaked at number three on the New Zealand Singles Chart. On 17 March 2008, she married Scott Ligertwood, in Sydney. They moved to Los Angeles in 2010. She continued to perform under her maiden name “Brooke Fraser” for her solo career until the release of her live album Seven in 2022.
