What does it mean to be a courageous police officer?
To become an officer you must study first. One of our teachers from year 4 officer CJ came in this week to help us learn more about our education and the things officers do. She is a Constable officer in the frontline role. When you’re in the frontline you are the officers who receive calls. The dispatcher officers are the officers who tell the officers that are driving what is happening and where to go. I don’t know about the other types of officers but I do know that they do police roading which is when they watch on the side of the roads to make sure no one is breaking the laws.
To be a courageous police officer the officers that are handling situations must become brave, step out of their comfort zone to deal with the situation, and maintain their temper for if the person they’re dealing with is getting on their nerves they must maintain their temper and remain calm.
To be a police officer you must respect the values that are set.
There are 6 different types of values for the police officers.
No 1: Respect
No 2: Empathy
No 3: Commitment
No 4: Diversity
No 5: Professional
No 6: Integrity
Those are the 6 different values they have. If you do not know what some of these mean I will tell you now. Respect: when you have respect for someone you don’t judge them when they make decisions you disagree with, you don’t judge them for who you are, you don’t judge them for their skin colour.
Empathy:
Empathy sometimes can be hard to show but it means that if someone is going through something but they take it out on you, but even though they take it out on you, you feel bad for them as you know what it’s like in their shoes.
Commitment:
When you have commitment it is basically like a promise, for example you say that you will go to the gym everyday if you do you have commitment because you did as planned and didn’t skip a day or so.
