My First few Days in Kāhu 2024

My first few days as a year 8 in Kāhu have been enjoyable, calm, and positive.  I have been enjoying being back at school and hanging out with my peers and friends.  So far we have the work we have done is a writing asttle,  marking the writing asttle,  learning about the different SDL tasks we will have on our SDL plans, we have worked on a Kāhu treaty,  and how to make lanterns for lunar new year.  If I’m being honest the work is very similar to last year when I was in year 7 but the people are very different compared to this year and last year.

Every student in Kāhu (including me) has applied for at least 3 jobs.  There is a variety of different jobs e.g. hospice ambassador where we pick up the school lunch orders,  interior designer where the students make the displays for our space, foodtastic where you make lunch orders for people who have ordered and payed and you help out with the younger children when they’re in food tech so they don’t hurt themselves and because they’ll most likely need help,  wet day monitor for when it’s raining outside and it’s morning tea/lunchtime wet day monitors will help out and look after the children and make sure they aren’t getting to trouble or breaking the rules,  and many other jobs.  I applied hospice ambassador,  wet day monitor,  and interior designer.

Overall these past few days have been peaceful and pleasant so I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year ahead of us is going to look like!
