In my opinion I would say a treehouse would be the most fun thing to have in a backyard but the length of the tree should be long so you can have fun climbing up it.

The perks of having a treehouse would be that you can hide from your parents, you can play cards, you can hide in the treehouse for hide & seek or hide & seek tag, you could have a climbing competition with a friend to see who can get up in the treehouse the fastest, and more.

The downfalls of having a treehouse would be that it can break at any time, you could fall while trying to climb up the tree, while building the treehouse could break and injure you/the person building it, and lastly you could get splinters.

Overall I think a treehouse would be a pretty good thing to have in your backyard if you could have one because you would have a lot of fun in it and it would also keep you outside for a while.
