JR.R Tolkein was born on 3 Jan 1892 in Bleomfontein, South Africa. His full name is John Ronald Reuel Tolkein. In 1892- 1973 he was an major scholar of English Language. He was also a professor of Anglo-Saxon (old English) at Oxford University. On 24 September 1914 Tolkein writes his first identifiable Middle- Earth fragment. Childhood and Youth

Tolkein great- great grandfather John Benjamin Tolkien came to Britain with his brother Daniel from (Gdańsk) in about 1772 and rapidly became throughly Angticised. But at the age of three his mother brought him and his younger brother Hilary back London. Despite on 15 February 1896 Tolkien’s father died soon afterwards in South Africa.

Education

In June 1915 Tolkien achieved a first class degree. At that time he was also working on various poetic attempts, and made in the King Edward’s school chronicle. In 1911 Tolkien went to Exter college, Oxford where he studied classics, old English, Germanic languages.
