Our Earth, Our Home

The Earth is big, green, and blue,
With mountains tall and oceans too.
It’s where we live, it’s where we play,
And it needs our help every day.

Forests tall and rivers wide,
Animals with places to hide.
Flowers bloom in fields so bright,
But something doesn’t feel quite right.

Trash piles up, and smoke fills air,
It’s not so safe, it’s not so fair.
Trees are falling, seas are gray,
Things get worse day by day.

But we can help if we all try,
Pick up trash and don’t let skies die.
Recycle, save water, plant a tree,
A better world for you and me.

The Earth’s our home, a special place,
Let’s take care and leave no trace.
We’re young, but we’re strong and smart,
Saving Earth is a good place to start.

PolyFest Blog – Week 11

Today I will be talking about my experience at PolyFest , Poly Fest is an amazing experience where you can see many cultures and cultural dances. The Dances consisted of many rhythmic moves with delight, each move planed out so beautifully the entire crowd cheered on the dances one after another. Our school loved all the dances we saw that day it was truly an incredible experience If you haven’t been to Poly fest you are missing out on a lot of fun. At PolyFest there are many food stalls and places to eat, sadly we weren’t allowed to buy any food even if we brought money the food does looks very appetising at PolyFest.

Did you know that year 7/8’s are not allowed to compete at PolyFest. I think we should be allowed to perform at PolyFest because we are capable of doing the same level of dances and maybe even better than 9’s 10’s so on. Some students love dancing in our school and they are way more then capable to perform and PolyFest they have moves that I haven’t seen before and that’s a good thing, And those student’s love dancing for there culture and they are really good at it too. So I do think year 7’s and 8’s should be allowed to perform and compete at PolyFest and if that’s not enough information for why we can perform at PolyFest then I don’t know what else you want.

Now back to my experience at PolyFest, we saw three different stages a diversity stage, a stage consisting of many different cultures, and we saw Māori stage the Haka was amazing but the view we has was not the best and I think it was the worst seats we could have we could bearly see the stage but we could hear it because it was very loud. Last but not least we had this stage that i don’t even know what to call it had many different things they did people came up and gave us speech’s and we also did a dance battle for some merchandise. Now that was one amazing opportunity that a person can have And that was my day at PolyFest.

My literacy poem week 9 , Kobe Bryant

Flying so high, right above the sky

No one knows times about to die

His technique was never seen before

every game he was averaging 44

His dunk is like a tiger

his ankle breakers are a deadly viper

The number 1 player dances through the court

He skills through players until they fall down on the court and need support

He bounces the ball he shoots it’s,it goes swish

He just wanted to complete his wish

The ball dances with skill

Kobe’s life was filled with thrill

my day at school

Hello today I will talking about my day in school

So Monday morning I start with the roll and then we go to assembly. After assembly we go to Tamaki and we listen to notices and our waitaka after about ten minutes we go back to our home whanu and do our waitaka. After we are done doing our waitaka we can d SDL or might do’s. Choosing my own SDL tasks help me set goals for my self like i am doing right now i am happy doing this and i have fun doing it. while completing them. I am trying to set high standers for my self so i can move up in SDL zones. But after we do waitaka we normally go out morning tea at morning tea we need to eat at least for 10 minutes and then we get around 30 minutes to play i normally play basketball with my friends or talk.

Now its middle block we have our labs or workshops and maybe even tech. I will be talking about labs, labs are a work shop about maths or literacy you go to labs with your home class for my math lab i got to miss Kelly  to do algebra and Mrs Van Tonder for literacy. and now lets talk about tech, tech is a specialist time basically for one whole block some people have cooking or they have enviro maybe even science or some other ones. And now we have lunch its is jusst a bigger and better morning tea.

Now after a long day we have moved on to last block, for last block we have Kahu treaty and launch. kahu treaty is our agreement of what we are going to bring to the table when it comes to learning and our behaviour all the students and teachers have signed it so we all agree on we are going to contribute to our treaty. Now let’s talk about launch , launch is a mixed learning block kinda it’s when you either do math or literacy it’s a pretty fun block/time to have. Ring ring ring the bell has gone it’s time to pack up and go home.

thank you from Karman Singh.

My first couple of days as a Kahu 2024

These first couple of days have been overwhelming but fun

I have only gotten a little bit of work. But Wednesday 7th February because I started doing my SDL book and getting the hang of how to do my SDL work. It has been fun but kinda scary because I’m trying to finish my work and if a don’t finish it I have to do it at home. But I like doing it at home because I have nothing to do at home but play games. Some other things I have been doing like making Chinese lanterns for Chinese new years. And last week Friday we wrote a writing easttle I wrote quite a lot I didn’t finish my easttle.

This year so far has had its fair share of twists and turns. I have trialed for softball but I don’t think I will make the team. Cricket and football trails are coming up in a couple of weeks. I have made some new friends with the new people to this school. Making them feel welcome is crucial if they want to be part of the school. On Thursday 8 February I had cooking lessons with Viren,Justin,Ayden and Toby, we made amazing American sausages. I have been finishing my SDL task day by day I think I have been doing good in my SDL workshops my friends have helped me when I was stuck on questions I am happy that I am in year 7 but I do miss year six.

Friday 9 February, I have been doing SDL I am doing my blog at 9:36 and after I am done I will do my e-ako do you know e-ako is used to do math and practice different types strategies, I am doing level 320.20 that is quite a hard level, I have been struggling with it but Duran is helping me because I am also helping him.

I have been trying my best to finish my work at school I always complete it but if I don’t I will take initiative and take my work home and finish it so it basically becomes home work that is something nice about Kahu. We can take our work home if we don’t finish it at school it’s pretty neat. Finishing my work is kinda a big thing because I am trying to get to blue band.

This year I am going to try my best to get to blue band like I did last year. This year is going to be harder because the expectation are higher to get blue band. That’s why I have to try harder this year and we have to start at grey band which is kinda annoying but it’s fine be cause I am going to apply for  burgundy and 2-3 days.

thank you for reading my first couple of days as a kahu
