This week in STEAM, we had a super cool activity where we learned about NZ famous people.

In small groups, we were given a famous New Zealander to learn about. Some of us had Sir Edmund Hillary (I did), the first man to climb Mount Everest, others learned about Jean Batten, the pilot who flew all the way across the world. Some of us did Ernest Rutherford, the scientist who split the atom.

In my group we had me, Sariah, Hazel, Sargun and Aariya. We worked together to find important dates in their lives – like when they were born, when they did something amazing, and when they changed the world. We put all our facts in order to make a timeline on a big sheet of paper.

We turned our paper timelines into digital timelines on Canva.

We learned:

•  How to work as a team to research a topic
• How to research important facts
• How to use digital tools like Canva

It was very fun learning about these people.
