What is Kaitiakitanga? It’s people who have a passion to look after nature and marine life. On Tuesday Kahu went to totara park and looked at all the different kinds of nature and animals that live in the wild. If you compared them you would think that they are the same but in reality they are very different from each other. In Totara park they have alot more space in the and greenery in Totara and more of a muddy track with native Aotearoa plants. In Botantical Gardens its alot more open and not surrounded by trees and more of a grassy area with lots of exotic plants and etc.
The plants at the botanical gardens are looked after by lots of garderners and they have alot more tidiness in the area and more tourist attractions. Totara park on the other hand is more messy and dirty and it doesnt really have any people looking after the area but they depend on strangers to look after the area since we didnt see anyone doing anything except some people getting a van out of the area because it crashed on the side path.
In my opinion I would rather go back to Totara park because we got to do what we want and the teachers left us to do our own thing in the forest and playground but overall Totara park was best with nature and animals!
