This week in STEAM, we had a super cool activity where we became history detectives!
In small groups, we were given a famous New Zealander to learn about. Some of us had Sir Edmund Hillary, the first man to climb Mount Everest! Others learned about Jean Batten, the amazing pilot who flew all the way across the world. Some of us even explored the life of Ernest Rutherford, the scientist who helped discover atoms!
In my group we worked together to find important dates in Jean Batten’s life like when she was born, when she did something amazing, and when she changed the world. We put all our facts in order to make a giant timeline on a big sheet of paper. It was like building a story of their life!
I turned our paper timelines into an awesome digital timeline on Canva. I added pictures, and fun colours to make them pop!
