A concrete poem has to have similes (comparing things using like or as) , imagery and alliteration. The concrete poem is made up of lots of sentences or words joined together that relate to the topic. All of these words and sentences should be made into the shape that relates to the topic.

Kiatiakitanga-gaurdians of the Earth

Kiatiakitanga is protecting the earth and looking after our trees, seas and soil. Kiatiakitanga is the guardianship of nature and the Māori believe that there is deep kinship between humans and nature. The idea of Kiatiakitanga is based on humans looking after the Earths trees, seas and soil.

I can show Kiatiakitanga by not littering, planting more trees in my community and not disturbing the wildlife in New Zealand. I can also show Kaitiakitanga by telling others in my community what to do and what not to do.

Steam week 2 – Diving into the Ocean

‘This week for STEAM we learned about the different ocean zones. I researched and created a labelled diagram of each zone. It had to include a description of the zone’s characteristics, pictures of the animals that live in each zone and a brief description of the zone. There are 5 different zones which include: the sunlight zone (epipelagic), the twilight zone (mesopelagic), the midnight zone (bathypelagic), the abyssal zone (abyssopelagic) and the hadal zone (trenches)’
