Last week Wednesday the year 7 & 8’s and some kapa haka and pacifica year 5 & 6 went to polyfest. If you don’t know what poly fest is, its like a festival and it’s located on ASB Grounds. Anyways, back to what I was saying I’ll be talking about my experience at polyfest. So to start off we had to come to school about 8:20am and we had to sit in our assigned place to sit, we had to find our name on a piece of paper and then we sit in a line behind the paper that had our name. 30 minutes had passed and we got onto our bus. Then we arrived, and had to wait for a while but it was okay. After that we had to empty out our water and show them our stuff, both of these are for safety reasons. Different groups was assigned to different stages, sadly I only remember one stage name, it’s called Samoan stage I think. Of course, we had to wait again. Later there was a woman on the stage introducing herself to all the students, her name was Terri or terry im pretty sure ,and I forgot to mention that there were other schools too. Then we had to go to another stage to see their performances.
All of the performances were about their country and culture. I remember most of the performances, I remember the Philippines,Chinese one, and the Hindi dance. It was so good and I was pretty tired but it was worth it. Then we headed back to our stage and there were so many cool things I had learned and there was also the police there and they were teaching us things. That was most of it and we came back to The Gardens School looking great. I also think that our Kapa Haka and Pacifica is fantastic and I think they would make great performers and maybe in the future I hope they can make it into polyfest performers.
