Little poppy
I have a little poppy,
As red as it can be,
To show I remember those who fought for me.
Polyfest
Last week Wednesday the year 7 & 8’s and some kapa haka and pacifica year 5 & 6 went to polyfest. If you don’t know what poly fest is, its like a festival and it’s located on ASB Grounds. Anyways, back to what I was saying I’ll be talking about my experience at polyfest. So to start off we had to come to school about 8:20am and we had to sit in our assigned place to sit, we had to find our name on a piece of paper and then we sit in a line behind the paper that had our name. 30 minutes had passed and we got onto our bus. Then we arrived, and had to wait for a while but it was okay. After that we had to empty out our water and show them our stuff, both of these are for safety reasons. Different groups was assigned to different stages, sadly I only remember one stage name, it’s called Samoan stage I think. Of course, we had to wait again. Later there was a woman on the stage introducing herself to all the students, her name was Terri or terry im pretty sure ,and I forgot to mention that there were other schools too. Then we had to go to another stage to see their performances.
All of the performances were about their country and culture. I remember most of the performances, I remember the Philippines,Chinese one, and the Hindi dance. It was so good and I was pretty tired but it was worth it. Then we headed back to our stage and there were so many cool things I had learned and there was also the police there and they were teaching us things. That was most of it and we came back to The Gardens School looking great. I also think that our Kapa Haka and Pacifica is fantastic and I think they would make great performers and maybe in the future I hope they can make it into polyfest performers.
The dark little light
There is a shadow that lurks in the dark but inside its heart has a sweet cart
that goes through a sweet tart.
The shadow has been in its misery for a gazillion years. The shadow is as quiet as a lake, the lake would break sometimes and he would always stay awake.
The shadow is a cheetah running from the sun. The shadow, the sun, are far apart from each other. The shadow has a ladder, he climbs the ladder to run from the sun.
The shadow loves its tree and keeps it clean. The shadow sometimes disappears in the dark.
Time flies and the shadow stands like a lonely gate but meets a mate. The mate is the sun. The sun has run to have fun with the shadow.
The sun was wrong and the shadow ran away again because he was hit again.
He hides in the dark.
My 1st time at Rainbow ends
2 years ago I went to rainbows end with my friends, harnoor, pareejat, miya, and riya. It started somewhere in the afternoon. Since I was still 9 years old I had to go to Kidz Kingdom ( Kidz Kingdom is a place for the younger kids). My first ever ride was the fear fall, the fear fall was a ride for older kids but this one in the Kidz Kingdom is a smaller version of the real one. It was the most exciting ride I wanted to go on. While going up and down on the ride, I felt like there were butterflies in my stomach. After that I went on another ride. I had no idea what it was called so I am just gonna call it the swing ride. (The swing ride is basically like the same ride I went on last time, but it would go back and forth like a swing but a ride). 2 hours had passed and I was done riding so I decided to ask my mum if I could eat candy floss, usually she would say no and you guessed it she would say “NO” but I didn’t give up. I begged and begged and she finally said yes! And we got that then just headed home.
My first few days in kāhu 2024
The first few days in kāhu have been great! Because I have got to know others from kāhu and the teachers are nice and cool. I have a dark blue folder called P.A.L, and I get to put all my important things in there, if I wanted to I could put my certificates in there! Unlike last year I didn’t have a P.A.L. There is one thing I am excited about, I’m excited about Tech! Tech is basically where you pick something to learn more about like cooking or baking well that’s what I want, but you can do anything. I’m also looking forward to being interested maybe in week 3 or 4. My few days were fantastic!
