Tongan week

Tongan language week is great because it keeps the Tongan language alive. This week reminds everyone how important it is to celebrate Tongan culture.

In schools, kids would prepare for the week’s events. What did they practice’s ? They would practice’s traditional Tongan  dances, learn how to cook and learn how to speak Tongan.

What are some fun things we can do in Tongan week?

You could learn some Tongan traditional dances or go to a festival and learn how to talk Tongan. You could make some Tongan crafts like a tapa (that’s a decorated bark cloth.) or weaving that you could creatie baskets, fans, hats and mats.

Tōtara and Botanical

On July the 30th we went to tōtara park for our theme “Katitakitanga.” (The environment.)

What was the difference? Tōtara park was really muddy and tōtara park was more connected to nature. The steps were steep and it was hilly. What was smoother it had trees, plants, rivers and the noise of birds flying around and up the tree.

Botanical gardens

We went to botanical gardens in week 3. We went at 9 but I was late so I came later. Then we came back at 12 when it was almost lunchtime. What was the difference between tōtara park and the Botanical gardens? The Botanical Gardens it was smoother, the botanical gardens had more people then tōtara park. What was smiler the bird noise and both of them are public gardens

Why I didn’t go to Ambury Regional Park?!

(what I did when I didn’t  come to the trip)

When I wasn’t on the trip I went to the new school that I’m moving to. I stayed there for one hour and then I went home then I went out for a walk with my cat outside. Then I went to play games with my brother. Then we went to pick up my sister then I went to my friend’s house. What we did at my friend’s house, we played games and we went to the dairy. Then we went back to her house and we played with her puppy. Her puppy’s name is Mina. My friend’s name is Lola.  I went back home  after the visit.

Athletic day

Nastasia writing Doc

Athletics day

First we went on a bus to pick me and my classmates up, it took 20 minutes to get there. We needed a water bottle, clothes that are our house colour (which was rimu) and hats. I didn’t wear my house colour because they were dirty so instead i just wore my PE uniform.

It was time for me to run 100 metres. I didn’t win first place but at least I tried my best. Twelve people were standing with me while we waited to race. I forgot to do my other events though. Why did I forget? I didn’t look at the time to go and I didn’t know where to go. I felt a bit sad to miss these events because it did look like fun but I was also a bit relieved because I felt a bit scared to do them too. I wasn’t sure how to do some of them.

You could choose how long you wanted to run for, there were 100- 200- 400 and 800. I ran 100 metres, I decided to run 100 metres because I thought it’ll be a little easier and smaller.

You could buy foods like hotdogs, cookies, juicies. I could smell the hotdogs, when I was sitting down with my friends. I saw the people cooking the yummy! hotdogs, the cookie’s handed chocolate inside. Did I eat one? No cuz I forgot about my money.

Why i did not go swimming?

Why I did not go swimming! I did not go swimming Because when I was little I had sore throat and I always get sick when Im in the water. When I was 8 years I went to swimming class in my old school and then I had a sore throat and my body start shaking so I asked the teacher if I can go home. My mum spoke to my teacher to not let me go to swimming class. When I went  home I got on my bed to sleep.  I like art more than swimming. I like art because its fun and its easy, relaxing and interesting.
