Anzac Day
The battle of Gallipoli
1915
The battle of Gallipoli happened on the 25 of April in 1915 it marked when the British had launched a failed attack on Turkey, New Zealand, Australia and ect. They were in Turkey at the time when Britain had launched an attack. Around 100k+ people had died on the battlefield. For eight long months New Zealand Australia Troops had been fighting with turkey. Today we remember our lost soldiers by celebrating Anzac Day. We had lost 100k soldiers in the battle and around that time there were around 1 million people in New Zealand. To put it into perspective we had lost about 10% of our population. It was a brutal battle and some soldiers weren’t allowed to come home which was depressing for them. Many other soldiers had suffered from shell shock and that is why we are celebrating the day we had lost many soldiers that had a wife and kids by marching and many more to remember our lost soldiers.
