As nations move forward they care less and less about their surrounding environment; they label electronics as environmentally friendly but the truth is there just as worse. To make electronics you need lithium, lithium is used in batteries to make them but it requires heavy mining. Mining creates a lot of pollution and plus you’re taking all the resources from Earth but to make the mines you need massive deforestation and roads Basically industrialising Earth.

Fossil fuel is no better when using fuel it creates a lot of carbon dioxide which is extremely bad for the environment. In addition there are often oil spills which kill and destroy ecosystems like recent ones happening in Samoa when a NZ navy ship sank the other one happened near Singapore by the oil company Shell! These oil spills into the ocean happen all the time too, the sad part being that it kills innocent marine life.

But there are some startups that actually try to help earth, like trying to develop technology which could support a hydrogen based energy source. Recently vice president of the USA: Kamala Harris lost the election to Donald Trump, so there is some geopolitical change which shouldn’t change the environment so much but Trump’s actions would be uncertain if they would help the environment. There are some pro environmentalists of mainstream social media that “ try to help the world”.

 

Early life

Sir Peter Jackosn was an ordinary New Zealander, he as born on the 31st October 1967. He was fond of movies, and went to kapiti college, his home Pukera bay was 40 minutes away from welligton.

Career

His career really started via stop-motions. He made them using a camera gifted by familly-friends. His parents later realised his potential and gifted him a better camera. He’s now known for The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings-trilogy’s. Some of his his well known achievements are that he was knighted in 2010 and given a star on the Hollywood walk of fame!

Fun Facts

He (Sir Peter Jackson) is a billionaire aproxing 3.5 billion dollers USD and one of the highest profile kiwis! One thing you probably didn’t know is that he has over 70 airworthy WW1 planes. He has children, directed 13 movies, in addition has one expected to release in 2027!

Family

Peter Jackson was married to Fran Walsh, in 1987 and has exponentially contributed to Sir Peter Jackson vast Film career, in 2019 queens birthday she was promoted to dame for her dedicated service to the New Zealand film industry. As previously mentioned he has children 2 to be exact named Billy (born 1995) and Katie (1996).

China’s modern history

The ming dynasty 

The Ming dynasty’s end was near the beginning of “The Qing dynasty” was about to start and it was going to take over their economy and start mass famine. Their country was under bad weather where their people were dying. This was driving the people crazy. Epidemics were spreading in the country and many people died plus there was a peasants uprising (1627-1658) and to top it off “The Manchu conquest” in 1644.

The fall of the Ming dynasty

As chaos very violently erupted in the dynasty, 2 Rebel leaders known as “Li Zicheng” and “Zhang” took control and the Manchus took over and established the well known Qing dynasty. The last emperor died in 1644, which marked the end of this once dominant dynasty.

Qing dynasty 

In the early 1800s, the Qing dynasty was miserable, as the Population grew massively and it led to food shortages.There wasn’t enough farmland or jobs to support everyone and poverty led many to rebel against the Qing dynasty. It was starting to break and then it became history. Foreign powers were also starting to involve themselves in trade with China, which led to wars and treaties that harmed the Qing. The British took Hong Kong and many nations took parts of China which then with the boxing revolts till then the Qing dynasty was doomed to collapse anyways.

Republic of China

In 1911 China the once great Qing dynasty collapsed,China declares itself a republic in 1912 with Sun Yat-sen as the first president of the republic. Many parts of the Qing dynasty left, such as outer Mongolia, then the Russians took outer Manchuria and WW2 didn’t help either with Japan taking over all of China basically. 4 years after China declared itself an republic the president declared himself the emperor of China which reformed motive leaders like Sun Yat-sen, Chiang Kai-shek, and Mao Tse-tung who fought old warlords of China and each other thought that this period of time will stop the country into falling to the hands of the foreign aggressors. Later the small wars became a real war between Chiang Kai-shek controlling the nationalists and the well known Mao Zedong leading the communists. 

Communists 

On 1 October 1949, Mao formally proclaimed the disputed creation of the People’s republic of China. The communist victory had a big impact on the world balance: therefore China became the world’s largest socialist state by population and from there the Sino-Soviet split which played a crucial and strategic role making a third major force in the Cold War.

Modern china

Today Modern China is well known for its communist regime which still comes into play even today and now being the largest proclaimed socialist state in terms of econominamy, population and size. And is well on its way to becoming the super power it wanted to be.

It’s been a week and 2 days

it’s been an crazy setting up our stationary tech rotations, meeting friends missing the holidays. We started with our dossier now the P.A.L (portfolio of assessments and learning) putting some rubrics and papers related to our work.

we also got our SDL- (Self Directed Learning)books which we do our SDL tasks in and we got a lot things like papers and digital work, related to SDL because it’s a lot of things like SDL ranks to the tasks in one section we did te reo SDL task one and there many tasks related literacy and others are math.

We are also doing this festival with a lot of lanterns and things for Chinese dragon new year so we’re making lanterns from cans preferably the Pringle ones!

We’re also doing the job application so basically, we apply for 3 jobs with proper writing, you write about you’re hobby’s and what you’re good at plus what will you do as (job your applying) and you have to send it to a specific teacher and you’ll get selected for 2 jobs which have to do year long.

Minecraft

 

Minecraft is one of the most played game in the world it can installed in iOS android pc and on all consoles such as Xbox and PlayStation,it is a game which offers nearly infinite creativity the minecraft community is very friendly too plus you get the power of building what’s ever you want there are mods, creative mode and survival all which go through of a variety experiences.

 

Creative

 

This is the mode for the most creative minds, it has everything you need infinite blocks. You do whatever you want you can also install mods on it which can make the game do whatever you like in this mode you have no hostile mobs and gives you infinite possibilities which is pretty cool you can get a flat land hitch as its name suggests is flat in a super flat world the world is only three blocks in height, there are many more worlds like flat normal peaceful.

 

Survival

 

In survival Basically you start from scratch you spawn randomly somewhere across the map, and when night dawns hostile mobs no matter what attack if you are in their radius of them. Like creative you can build anything you want at the price of getting them yourself. There are many biomes which just means different areas like jungle and desert.

Mods

 

What is a mod and how does it work? A mod is a mode where you can code and create anything you eg; you want the grass blocks to be red with fire on them or TNT to look like glass so in multiplayer you can give your friend a mod where gals RAAM ITS GLASS is TNT and then light up the TNT…boom there goes your friend and his base.

Multiplayer 

 

Multiplayer is Basically just having multiple players as its name suggests so you can play with your friends. This is useful for big projects or having a pvp (player vs player). Maybe one day you will be a YouTuber holding a contest between many players.

Athelatics day

Have you ever done athletics? We (AKA; the school students and teachers) had Athletics day at Massey park on Thursday 20th of October 2022. I had 3 activities: shot put, discuss and high jump. They all were spelended as a blizzard combined with a storm of spectacularness. It was like the Olympics but for kids, in New Zealand , that it was to us? I guess and last but not least it had more activities.

Everyone in year 6 (piwakawaka) were allowed to choose 5 activities and 3 minimum For my first activity-high jump, the teacher checked the roll as some kids were running the 400 metre race, we continued I was second in line.  I was nervous, I had never done this before.  In the wink of an eye I was first in line.  I went to where you had to start from.  I ran as fast as I could and made a jump but my technique was a little bit bad. I went again but this time the teacher told me to got to left side this made me nervous because I didn’t know how to do it on the left side BUT the teacher told me where to go so I followed but I didn’t make it. I had a few more tries than I went because the year 6 boys high jump was over.

I sat with Matthew (best friend) but then  I missed shot put I RAN AS FAST AS I COULD to Mr Wong and did it I had shot put. I asked some people where the dicus was . After I had found where dicus was the teacher over there where Mrs Cuba and Mrs Welding I helped them measure the distance of how much the year 5s and year 6s threw the discus and went to the stadium after woods. I saw Mrs Cuba again so I helped her pick up the rubbish.

 

Overall I loved athletics day it was really fantastic I had a lot of fun I’ll give it a 7.5/10 athletics day is really about taking  over your fears, encouragement and competitiveness.

Hi, it is te wiki o te reo Māori in New Zealand 🇳🇿. We live in a Māori country (Māori is a native culture in New Zealand and just some weeks ago we started daily Māori questions so what we do is that there is a teacher named Mrs Kelly she goes to every hapori. (our houpiris are piwakawaka which is year 6 tui year 5 kotuku year 4 kiwi year 0-1 Kahu year 7-8 pukeko which is year 3 and last but not least at all kakapo is year 2).

After you have found the patai/ a Māori word meaning question, you have to do the following writing on the question, but first you must translate it to English than find the answer which has to be than translated into Māori, you have to email it to her ( Mrs Keli) 

This will make your Te Reo Māori speaking skills WAY BETTER and we have Te Reo Māori words OF THE WEEK SUCH AS patai = question rorohiko = computer Kai = food 😋.

There are many more activities, I didn’t write about them as I don’t know much about them, maybe next time in the future I might be able to write about more activities.
