Tōtara park and Botanical gardens reflection

Have you ever been to Tōtara park or Botanical gardens? If you haven’t there so much to see.  Tōtara park is a nature trail as well as a dog park, we will talk about the nature trail. The trail has a loud waterfall and rivers along the path. We can see trees as high as tall buildings and leaves as green as green can be. Short palm trees and tall palm trees. hundreds of different species of plants and animals, birds and creatures all around. Rocks and mud and water falling from the high leaves.

Botanic gardens? The large ponds, big plant beds, and so many different edible plants. The large open fields and the wildlife all around there are almost the same? Botanic gardens solid paths of concrete and purposeful natural life.

What are the similarities between the park? The common ground is more or less similar and has loads of life and water around the park.  The large open plains and tall trees with multiple trails all along.

What are some differences? Tōtara park has muddy and rocky trails where botanical gardens have cemented paths the climate is very different as Tōtara park is more closed by the trees and Botanical garden is more open and spread out.

The parks have their differences and similarities but as an overview I would say that botanic gardens are more welcoming and open, they’re more warm and not cold and enclosed. Overall I botanical gardens in more open and welcoming place.

The guy in a cave ?

Once upon a time there was a scientist

He was evil with his biasedness

In his broad shack

He learned what he lacked.

The crystals on the walls

Made it look like a decorative hall

The hundreds of tools on the floor

In the pool of flowing water that swept away all his foolishness

Crystals as big as mountains .

Robots

Robots

The robot was going to be his next invention he stated

He wanted to make a robot the size of a mountain but could still fit on a plate

A robotic arm a new one it was a second person

with his new arm he had new cobalt extinctions and slowly made his condition worsen

The robot arm went around him and he slowly had to pry the arm away.

Night sky

night sky. with nothing visible but a dark fog. The faint light of the stars trying to break through, the frosted grass and the water covered trees and the wet. The ever fading night turns itself into a sunrise that shines in the everlasting fog. The town not far from the beach akshat went on walk with his beloved husky max, as he went closer to the shore it became colder and the air became saltier. As they walked down the beach the tide began to drift away, the coral slowly began to uncover itself, the fish became distant and the coral’s patterns became structures became more and more visible till it was all shown.

Akshat and Max sat on the beach watching the tide pull back into itself and as the sun rose the tide slowly began to reach out slowly with calm soft waves trickling closer to the bank. Akshat and Max went on their way home and as they were going home Max saw a squirrel and as Max bolted off “ Akshat yelled MAX! “ Akshat ran and when Max finally stopped at the tree the squirrel ran up Akshat with force and had to take Max home.

“Akshat mother asked what do you want for breakfast “ Akshat replied to Weetbix and Milo, his mum wiped up a nice breakfast and Akshat ate and went to school. With the same exhaustion and him being tired had a big day in front of him.

Digital art

For digital art we had to make a silhouette of our face from a 2D perspective. My silhouette consists of things that are related and important to me. Such as food, sports and nature as well as many other things.

This activity was creating funny pictures, placing them in our silhouettes and talking and having fun with our friends. My favourite thing is it was quiet but we all had some funny laughs and some great interactions.the art we had created was meant to show our thinking and what we are into like our hobbies, our out of school activities and our learning progression as well as what we need to know. We had backgrounds already but we had the ability to change it so I had changed the colour to black and a copper bronze and with a finished product we had to post it to our google classroom.

This digital was my second time around doing though it was on a different app it was relatively straightforward to do. The hardest part to do was the beginning as it was quite hard to generate new ideas but as time went on it became easier and it was becoming so fun and everyone was having fun.

CCSA Softball

In week 4 on the 20th of February my school had entered for CCSA softball, as I was picked to play in the softball team I had the responsibility of being on time. When I arrived at school I needed to get changed into my pe short and school sports shirt, soon after miss Watson our school PE teacher asked us to get into line of Y 8 boys and year Y 7 and 8 girls, miss Watson sent us off into our cars and we went all the way to papakura softball grounds. We unpacked the 2 tarpaulins and all the bags. We then set camp under 2 trees in the shade away from the scorching heat in the afternoon.

We all had time to have some morning tea before our first game so we made sure to eat then head off to our game on field 3. After we had brought all the gear we had all gotten on gloves and started to throw a ball amongst each other. After the game started we had a rough start and after a while of being battered around we had a horrendous loss of 5-1, in our second game not long after we had the same score and had a bad loss once again.

A while after those horrible losses we had a big game against Clevedon we had a fast start and took a 3-0 lead which was crucial as we held off them getting any point and we needed that 3-0 win to keep us in the game. Our last game was all the way on field four which was a bit away with 5 minutes till our next game we quickly went down and played the last game. The game started quite even with us only getting a 2-0 lead, shabd who was our excellent back stop was able to tag out a 4th base forced run sealing our victory.

For the last thing of the day we needed to go to prize giving to collect our awards. For the placements 1st place was Finlaycent park and a place was given to… Randwick park  and for 3rd was us even though we didn’t make it to counties we were still happy. For the last award we won sportsmanship.

As this was the first tournament of the year we were all happy we had a placement and sportsmanship. At the end of the day we all had fun and that’s all that mattered.

My first week in kahu

On Tuesday morning 30th January I woke up to one of those annoying little alarms, I didn’t want to wake up but I had to or I’ll be dragged out of bed by my mum, so I got up and went to have a hot shower to wake myself up I brushed my teeth, after that I went and rushed to pack my lunch grab all my books and head to the car to go to school. On my first day we all started the day by having a whole school assembly and we were sent off by grade for my grade the year 7 and 8 we headed to our space in the central area called tamaki ( River ) we were then split into our class, I was placed in kahu 2 the 2nd class, and my home room was with miss smith. In the previous year miss smith came as a student teacher to learn more about teaching, and we come to this year where we were lucky enough for miss smith to join our school. Me and my classmates all head to our space to label all our books such as maths books and reading… i did this last year so I did this quite fast compared to last year, we then finished and …

The bell rang, and as all the teachers let the students out of the classroom, hundreds of students came running out the door and bolted into the bag huts, where us students kept our school bags, we all grabbed our hats and lunch and went out towards the eating area ( Central Park ) as we all sat down with our friends we all talked about how our holidays were and how exciting it is to be the new year 8s. after morning tea we all headed to class where we learnt how to apply for jobs ( In our school we had job to teach us responsibility and independence ) this year I applied for 3 job the 3 job I applied for were house captain for this you are 1 of the 4 leaders of your house and I hope that is me ( the 4 house are kauri/green tawa/blue rimu/red and kowhai/yellow ) and the last 2 were hospice ambassador and hall ambassador.

During this week we had an important writing e-asttle which will help us to determine our writing workshops for the term. The topic of my writing e-asttle was a recount ( a recount is a piece of writing that’s already happened) . For my recount I wrote about my road trip to Kērikēri closer to the northern part of New Zealand.

Throughout the rest of the week we went to different teachers to teach us our kahu book standards, our google drive and classroom … During this week I would like to highlight the fact that PE with Miss Dissmeyer was the best class out of the six the teachers taught in pe. We learned about all the different sports we could trail for and compete to win the sportsmanship award which the year 5 and 6 boy won last year. This year there is a sports cup open for the boys and girls. I have had 2 of my friends win it in the past and I want to win it like them as well.

On Friday we had house games. House games are something the Kahu do at the end of the week to have fun after a long week of learning and house games are broken into the 4 houses . For the games we played, we started by just dancing. For each song a house gets house  points go towards our houses for the competition at the end of the term and the winner gets the feeling of winning.

for the first week in year 8 we had it slightly easier than what the middle of the year would be. This week has been so fun and it’s a deception of time as this is the last first day at The Gardens School and I hope that this will be the best year at the school. I hope there are lots of sports this year and my first week of school was a blast and the best first week ever.

School sports

In week 2 of term 3 my peers that qualified to go to inter school cross country went to totara park to compete against other schools to have the title of some of the fastest runners in Auckland but first they had to compete in 3 different tournaments. First was inter school cross country then was counties cross country then was Auckland champs xc.

On Friday of week 2 Term 3 we headed to the race track to start our race but before the year 7 boys was the year 7 girls so we had to wait for them to start but after 5 minutes we could start our race, we had to warm up as soon as they left but when our time came we were ready to win, the track was muddy but me and my peers had a strategy to keep a steady running pace. We went up steep hills and rough terrain but we prevailed.

After about 9 or 10 minutes we finished our race. We had done so well that the team made it to counties cross country. Counties cross country is the 2nd toughest tournament and after that is Auckland champs.

On Friday of week 4 term 3 we had to drive our way to the track. It was really muddy and we were quite hesitant but we had to do this for our teammates that didn’t come from injuries.

When the race began our hearts were racing and we were very nervous, when we heard the whistle we ran as fast as we could we went up the hill down the vineyard and out the other side for a flat track to run for the second 2 to complete the 3 kilometre race.

We didn’t end up winning but it was sure of a good race we had fun and it was an accomplishment for most of us and we were so proud to even get there we enjoyed ourselves and we hope to get there next year

Footballs biggest rivalry

Sports are very important to some and not to others. sports for some of the more talented athletes is how they bring money into their home and or family. Sport is a hobby for some people, and others play for fitness or as a career . Some players play in. La Liga players such as Ronaldo and Messi when they were younger were setting records and making millions every year players like kylian Mbappe look up to ronaldo to become a football player.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the footballer with the most records broken is ronaldo who started playing football in sporting Lisbon at 18 in Portugal.  Portugal had won zero international trophies without Ronaldo, when he made the national team he had won 3 trophies for them in 20 years. He scored 121 goals for Portugal in his 20 years.

Messi’s first club he played for was Barcelona in 2002 where he played for 19 years before going to PSG and going to inter Miami in 2023 where he scored 817 goals in 22 years close to Ronaldo of 867 goals in 20 years. Messi and Ronaldo had been the biggest rivalry in all of football and were under debate of who was better.

Sports

Being an athlete ( a sports player) is quite hard to be but it comes with great rewards. Most athletes play the sport they enjoy the most such as cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi they started playing football as young children in school hoping to become a professional footballer because Messi and Ronaldo grew up in poor countries ( Portugal and Argentina) there first clubs were Barcelona and sporting Lisbon they we’re making a lot of money to help there family soon Ronaldo had to make a difficult choice…

He had to choose between staying with his family and moving to England to play for Manchester United. Ronaldo went to England and made millions to move his family over to live with him. In 2008 he set a record of the longest free kick goal at the time of 42 yards. That year he was and is the only player to win the ballon d’or, community shield, premier league and many more awards in all of history.

Messi on the other hand has stayed in Barcelona playing with the club legend Ronaldinho who was a Brazilian magician with the ball at his feet he set Messi’s first goal. Soon Ronaldinho had been moved to ac Milan where Messi was left with no idle to look up to.  Messi was soon setting records like Ronaldo when Ronaldo moved to Real Madrid when a rivalry started between the 2.

Being a footballer is many young kids’ dreams, some make it to the professional level but some don’t.
