Totora park

The day has finally come. tree planting!

Do you know how to plant trees? We planted trees to save the environment. By planting trees the trees turn carbon dioxide into oxygen so we have fresh air and we can slow down global warming

My classmates and I  went to Totara park in Auckland, New Zealand. When we got there, we saw five hundred trees! My classmates and I  got to planting in the first 15 minutes. We thought we’d be finished in no time,we were wrong. It took us

one and a half hours.

I myself planted 30 trees. We planted 4 of trees kowhai  and Manuka trees ti kōuka – cabbage tree and harakeke – flax and there were a whole lot of them. We split into three groups. My group planted 159 tree’s. We had morning tea at 11 am.

We had some time to tell jokes, play tag and have fun before we started our walk back to class.

While we were walking back Miss Cosford met us on our way back.

When we got back we had Mrs Davies ask us questions and if we got it right we got to eat lunch early and we talked about our day.

On our way back we saw some trees planted by the park rangers and they had rabbit covers on them rabbits like to eat the small trees for food so the cover stop them

Our goal was to plant 500 trees to help stop global warming and to prevent rising sea levels because if the  ice caps melted New Zealand would be under 15 meters of water causing mass  destruction.I felt pleased with the effort we put in.
