Moāri language week

Moāri language week is a special week that we celebrate once a year  our school does kapa haka poi we do daily hidden pātai ( questions ) and we answer the questions and then mrs Kelly will pick a person out of a bucket and then that person gets to get a prize from the school office.

In our school we have this group of kids then perform kapa haka a moāri dance and this morning the group performed this dance in front of the parents for the first time. The kapa haka group has been practicing for 2 terms ( 6 months ) . Their performance was incredible . Here’s the link.

Hangi is a traditional dish. So  it’s more of a primitive cooking, we started digging then  making a pile of wood volcanic rock and iron. We must then prepare the food (kai) Then we put the Kai in a big freezer. We wait a few hours and then we put the hot Rocks in the hole then we place the Kai on top of the rocks. We will put wet rags and then we use the dirt and we let it cook for a few hours.

At lunchtime there are time activities for all the kids in the school then after lunchtime the teacher packs it away for tomorrow.I think that moāri language week is a fun and stressful week because you will have to try your best to speak moāri.

If I were setting off to Mars and could take only three luxury items with you, what would they be and why?

If I went to Mars I would bring my favourite TV because if you don’t have a TV what will you do at night or when you’re bored because you can play on your PS5. When you have your PS5 you can watch Netflix YouTube and play games all day.  When it’s dinner time you can go and eat in the lounge and no one can stop you .

While I’m in Mars i’ll need to play basketball or soccer so I’ll bring a turfed court because you need to play sport so you don’t die due to heart issues and not being fit. You could have lots of fun with your friends while playing team sports.

The time has come you and your friends are vs the mars marshals ( slam dunk ) we have 2 points ( swoosh splash ) the marshals  scored a three pointer the first half is done and we’re losing. It’s time for the 2nd half. The ref threw the ball in the air and we had possession and we scored by 2 points and the ref blew the whistle and we won .

The third luxury item I would bring is friends. With friends you can do anything you can invent stuff, make cool gadgets, do whatever you want.  You can blow things up, set off fireworks and overall have fun.

My favourite bit of this trip to mars was the sports against the Mars marshals and all the games. The marshals were tall so it was a hard game overall. The best bit was the basketball.

Recipe for destruction of friendship

Ingredients

  • A friend
  •  Bananas/oils
  • Ice cream
  • Salt
  • A bunch of nails
  • Fire
  • Robbing
  • Snake on toilet
  •  Onion apple orange garlic
  • Jelly bean that tastes like barefoot
  • Fill there elephants toothpaste

Method

1 We need to have a friend and lots of ideas! We will need apples and onions , garlic and orange paint , so we can paint the garlic and will not trust you. (Boom friendship depletes fast ).

2 We place banana peels  in their house and they will slip and fall and hit their  heads and …( boom bang clash)we have a very good plan to destroy their friendship.

3 We will start a big fire in the kitchen, in their house and give them foot flavoured jelly beans and let them eat and you watch them suffer and fill their house with elephant toothpaste .

4 put the most evil last . snake on their toilet and pop their tires and throw ice cream at them .

To destroy a friendship we first got to have hate for them then we put bananas in there house and then they will be slipping and sliding ( clash bang ouch ) and when he/she cleans it we will throw ice cream at them when they go drink their coffee, put salt in it and enjoy( ew my coffees so gross )when there on the way to work put nail under there car.

When they leave their house set the fire alarm off and put cardboard fire on the stove and when they get back pie there face and when they try have a shower you fill the bathtub/shower with lots and lots of ice cream and give her a onion apple and apologise and after that paint 30 bulbs of garlic orange and put it at the door

Buy a python and put it in the bathroom and put a bucket of water on the door and they will get spooked and drenched and will have another shower but its in ice cream so they clean it up then they have a shower then leave a jar of foot flavoured jelly beans and wait for them to eat it.

We need a lot for this prank. We need hydrogen peroxide, yeast ,water, food colouring, dish soap. We put them all together and we have elephant toothpaste and his whole house is flooded in elephant’s toothpaste and that is very hard to clean up so then that’s the only minimum.

Tree planting

Have you planted trees before? On the 10th of August i went to Kimberly road to plant trees with the host joslyn and Mark and their dog Rosie. Rosie was a small dog with a lot of energy, we had to plant 600 trees! With 27 students. we thought we’d be there for ages. We were planting these trees for trees of survival.

It was  a bit hard to dig holes with normal spades  so Mark got a big drill so we could plant the trees a lot faster. The owners were hosting a BBQ for the kids who went tree planting. Once we were finally finished we could go eat.we were finally finished we could eat all the delicious food: hash browns Samos, chips, sausages, chicken nuggets. For dessert we had brownies cake lamingtons for the drinks we had water fruit punch and hot chocolate.

When we were finished we had to clean the shovel with a water blaster and we most of us got to try and it was so fun we talked while we waited for the bus to take us home one of our classmates named pearl gave a speech on behalf of the garden school. When the bus came we all hopped in.

Mrs Davies, our teacher, did a role check. Luckily we didn’t leave anyone behind on the way back. We were telling jokes talking about how the trip went out of the school  in 2 years. The bus driver got lost so one of the parents was our gps When we got back to school we got changed and met up in front of the library before going in.

My favourite part of the trip was all the food and helping erosion and the environment to stop global warming and to prevent sea levels rising.

Swimming

Do you know how to swim? Swimming can save you in many ways. Learning to swim means that if you get stuck in the middle of the ocean you will know how to float and fight against the current. Swimming is also a great way to have fun with your friends and if you get stuck in a rip current you can cut it off. When your kid goes swimming with school they will go with their classmates, the programme is free for all students.

Learning how to swim can save your life. Swimming saved my life more than once. I went on a boat and we were swimming with life jackets. I drifted too far  from the boat so I needed to swim to the boat. I learnt how to swim that year so I swam with ease. As a kid my favourite thing to do was swim so I went to swimming lessons every Wednesday, My favourite style of swimming is freestyle.

My favourite thing about swimming is it’s fun. Swimming is an international sport you can learn life lessons from anything, I’ve learnt that swimming has asthma benefits. Since I have asthma I have been swimming from a young age So my asthma has gone down a lot since. My three favourite things to do in swimming are freestyle backstroke and butterfly. My swimming instructor is Sam. Sam has been teaching me for 4 years now and in summer it will be my 5th year.

Swimming is for all people including people with disabilities anyone can swim as long as they try their best. My personal best time for swimming a 500 meters freestyle is 3 minutes and 47 seconds. I can hold my breath for 4 minutes. It took me 3 months to be able to come close to 4 minutes.

Going swimming, I’ve made friends that I play with at school after school during the holidays. I have had most of my friends since 3 grade. Overall I think that swimming is my favorite sport of all time. And when I go swimming I feel like a whole different person.

What I have achieved

What did I achieve ?  I have achieved making a soccer team with great talent. A lot of kids don’t make any soccer team. I was lucky to have a lot of skill to make division 1 premier league soccer joueurs and to. Be one of the teams to represent our club. Our  division is the top of the club .

We have gone against teams like Mangere,Manukau,Sae,Papatoe,Papakura,Manurewa  football club and some we lost to but most we won against. We usually win something nil so the scores are like this 7-0 mostly we have training on Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday and Friday and on Saturday we have game day where we play different teams.

My team’s formation is usually 4. 2 .4 My team normally push as a team and fallback as a team so our defensive formation is good vice versa.some of our players are from Italy some used to play for joueurs National team.

This week we are playing Papatoe reds. They have not lost a single game this whole year so we are kinda scared to verse them cause they are the hardest team we have faced this whole season.  The whole time playing for my club I have been the main centre back but my coach thinks I do well as a striker so far it has been great .

We are so close to moving to A team division all we need to do is beat papatoe reds and and we move up to the highest rank in the club. Our team has worked so hard for the 5 years this team took to get this goodWe

Week 9: what makes me happy

My happy place is calling my friends to see what they’re doing because of covid. I like 6 to see them so I call to see what they’re  up to and we talk about our day and talk about school and random things we learnt.

Me and my friend before covid hit talked every day and Walked home so we could share our thoughts to express our feelings for school.

My friend and I used to play before covid hit, we used to play every day ,now it’s limited to online calls and video games so we try to catch up with each other as much as possible as well as focus in school.

So now me and my friends are able to see each other after school because covid has settled a bit more so me and my friends are so grateful for covid to settle down .

My friend and I try our best to not get covid so we could go to each other’s house and play our favourite sport is soccer because we started playing from a young age and we started to love playing soccer.

Totora park

The day has finally come. tree planting!

Do you know how to plant trees? We planted trees to save the environment. By planting trees the trees turn carbon dioxide into oxygen so we have fresh air and we can slow down global warming

My classmates and I  went to Totara park in Auckland, New Zealand. When we got there, we saw five hundred trees! My classmates and I  got to planting in the first 15 minutes. We thought we’d be finished in no time,we were wrong. It took us

one and a half hours.

I myself planted 30 trees. We planted 4 of trees kowhai  and Manuka trees ti kōuka – cabbage tree and harakeke – flax and there were a whole lot of them. We split into three groups. My group planted 159 tree’s. We had morning tea at 11 am.

We had some time to tell jokes, play tag and have fun before we started our walk back to class.

While we were walking back Miss Cosford met us on our way back.

When we got back we had Mrs Davies ask us questions and if we got it right we got to eat lunch early and we talked about our day.

On our way back we saw some trees planted by the park rangers and they had rabbit covers on them rabbits like to eat the small trees for food so the cover stop them

Our goal was to plant 500 trees to help stop global warming and to prevent rising sea levels because if the  ice caps melted New Zealand would be under 15 meters of water causing mass  destruction.I felt pleased with the effort we put in.

what is a hero

What is a hero? A hero in my opinion is someone who is brave,  kind, giving to others, and has a kind heart. Heroes don’t have to be fictional, they can be anyone such as your mum, dad, or other people special to you can be a hero.

In my opinion My hero is my dad because he is always there for me. If I’m hurt he comes to the rescue to help me get up and recover. He helps me when I’m stuck and in trouble. He helps me understand problems to make them easier for me in life. When my dad needs help I return the favour and help him.

I learnt from my hero that it’s better to be kind because what you put in the world always comes back,as they say what goes around comes around. Always be good to others no matter what the cause.
