It was early in the morning and I was thinking about what I will be doing on the trip today and what I will have to pack for the trip. So I got up, went to the bathroom ,brushed my teeth and had breakfast and quickly packed my bag because I was so excited for the trip. Once I arrived at school everyone had their bags upstairs and the teachers were deciding what group everyone was going to be in.

Finally the bus arrived and everyone got on to the bus in their groups and we finally headed to Ambury Farm. After about 23 minutes we arrived at the farm. At the farm we met two rangers and their names were Janine ( Janine worked for Auckland Council for 20 years + ) and Richard. The Rangers said “you can first eat morning tea and then we will tell you what we will”.  

After we ate we went into a room which was named barn inside the barn Richard explained to use all the rules, after the rules we played a game which was called wool fibre. In this game you have to match the animals with their fibre. Then we splitted up into groups. My group went to the shearing first. In shearing they sheard off the wool of sheeps and the place they sheard  of the wool had a very bad pungent smell. When we left the shed where they sheared of the wool ,we stood in a circle  outside and Janine gave us sheared  wool to touch that had a coating of lanolin oil.

Later on, we went into another pungent smelling room. In that room we made a sandwich with felt . First we made our sandwich and then poured hot water over it, and also poured soap over it and then lastly with our palm we rubbed all the sides and there you go your felt sandwich is done. Our final activity with wool was spinning the wool that made clothes, rugs and other stuff.

The last thing we did before we left the farm was a 1 hour walk. On the walk we saw many animals. The first animal we went to see were the baby cows. The baby cows had soft and warm wool.The second animal we went to see was the chickens in the chicken coop. There were also turkeys and geese. After that we saw many other cute and adorable animals.

In my opinion this was an amazing experience at a farm. I loved learning new things about how they shear wool off from sheeps and learning about fibre. The thing i loved the most was the walk and the sandwich felt making.
