Steam Week Ten – Ernest Rutherford

My group and I created a timeline about the life and achievements of Famous New Zealander Ernest Rutherford, one of the most famous scientists for atomic physics. This project was a collaborative effort by my friends Ayan, Atharv, and Anoop.

Here is a timeline:

  • 1871 Ernest Rutherford was born in Brightwater, near Nelson New Zealand
  • 1890-1881 Started school In Foxhill primary school.
  • 1882-1888  Moved to Havelock and went to Havelock primary.
  • 1890-1894 Attended Canterbury College
  • 1895-1898  Joined the Cavendish Labratory University
  • 1898-1907  Moved to Montréal Canada.
  • 1907-1919 Became a physics professor in Manchester University
  • 1907-1914  Ernest Rutherford was knighted in 1914
  • 1917 Split an atom during an experiment
  • 1919-1937   discovered the neutron
  • 1937  And finally Rutherford passed away and was buried next to Isaac Newton in Westminster.
