Here was my handwriting at the start of Term 2 of 2025.
I tried my best and I think I did quite well. This poem is about war and it’s called ‘Dulce et Decorum Est’.
Keynote STEAM – Term 4 – Ria RAJENDRA
This Term, we made a Keynote presentation on our topic. My topic was amphibians. We also learned about frogs, toads, and salamanders.
In Keynote, I learned how to texture texts, writing, and shapes. First, take a photo or an image of a texture you’d like to use. Then, you have to add a shape or text box. If you’re using a text box, make sure to write something in it. After that, you go to the small blue-outlined paintbrush in the top right. Afterward, you go to ‘Text’, and ‘Text Colour’, and finally choose your texture. Now you’re done!
In Tui 1, we learned about mainly amphibians and the frog life cycle. My Keynote consists of first a title page. We added five textured words with meanings or information about them. Some of my words were frogs, amphibians, tadpoles, etc. This Term, we also learned about Kaitiakitanga. Kaitiakitanga is about protecting and caring for our Earth and the environment. Before this, everyone learned about combining and breaking shapes. We then made robots out of what we learned on Keynote. The robot I made was my product for the end. In the end, we recorded using the Live Video feature in Keynote and read the text we wrote for recording.
Something I needed to improve on was recording. I needed to be louder, and make sure there weren’t any background noises as I could barely hear myself.
This Term for STEAM was a great Term and I had lots of fun!
Concrete Poem – Week 6 Term 4
For Literacy this week, we learnt about concrete poems. This is my concrete poem.
My concrete poem was about the moon.
You create a concrete poem by drawing something related to the topic. Then you write words around the drawing like in the picture up above. After that, you’re done! All you have to do is add some decorations (optional).
Acrostic Poem – Poetry.
For Week 2 of Term Four, I did acrostic poems for poetry. We did our poem on fireworks. We made a plan with ideas and researched words that started with the letters of fireworks. An acrostic poem is when a word (say for example ‘fireworks’) is written vertically and there’s a sentence or describing words about fireworks from each letter of the word ‘fireworks’. There are many different ways of the acrostic poem like the word ‘fireworks at the end or in the middle or in the beginning and end!
Here is my acrostic poem!
Fuming illuminations igniting
In the sky were colourful hues of white and emerald green
Raining lights are crackles pouring down
Everyone cheered brightly and happily
Whirls of navy blue across the starry night
Over the pure black stratosphere was millions of stars
Rumbling in the skies
Kicks of ruby red varieties
Smokey tang of a metallic scent hit my nostrils, inhaling the scent
