This is my second year in Kahu, 2024, we had started school only last week. On the first day, we were put into our classes, then we had to name our stationary in the first block. After we had finished naming our things, we were shown where our tote trays were. Once we were finished finding our tote trays, we went back to class to play a game. In the second block,  we set up our wataka for week one. Then at 11:50 we switched over into “Life in Kahu”. During life in kahu it shows us what it will be like, being a member in Kahu. My class, had intro to leadership with our Home whanau teacher Miss smith. The next block was last block. In last block, we had a Hui with the whole school. Then in the last part we did some work with the treaty, The next day we had Life in the kahu again then in second block we had PE. Lastly in the third block, we mad lanterns, I worked with Kalilah, it was pretty easy creating our lantern.

 

During the next day we had to do life in kahu, life in kahu went on throughout our first week of school. On Friday last week we had to do a writing asstle about time with whanau. I wrote about our trip to Niue. During this week we marked our Asstle based on the 7 following subjects: Organization, sentence structure, structure and language, spelling, punctuation, ideas, and vocabluary. We had also done SDL tutorials, SDL tutorials are when you go to different workshops with teachers, in each session you get to learn how to do different independent literacy or maths tasks.

 

I felt pretty good about our first weeks of the year. Everything seemed so organized, and maintained up to a high standard. I am so excited and prepared for the year ahead of us as The Kahu Hapori, 2024.
