Our Trip to Ambury Farm

“Tk, Thomas, Toby, Waka and Xavier, Ok now we are ready, get into your groups.” I said. Now that we were ready for our trip we got in our groups and headed downstairs to get on the bus. While we were out there Mrs Botha, Mr Wong and I thought it was a good  idea to check everyone had their medication. Once everyone was good to go we hopped on the bus and was on our way to Ambury farm.

This one girl Rosery fell asleep straight away.I just wanted to fall asleep then wake up to all the noise being gone. It was so loud on this bus people would think it was a party bus. So I just ignored it and turned to Mrs Hayward and talked to her. That bus ride passed by quickly and we finally arrived at our destination. The kids were rushing to get out of the bus. I and the other teachers had to tell them to calm down because someone would get hurt. Once we got off the bus we met these lovely park rangers. Their names were Richard and Janine, they were the ones that would be showing us around the farm and teaching us about the fibres. Once we got in I told the students to eat their morning tea.

After the kids ate we got back into our group and headed off to our activities. My group’s first activity was matching each fibre up with the right animal. It was cool learning about what fibre goes with which animal. Then we met up again and got to the next activity. Our next activity was making felts. We had to stretch the wool out and put water on it. Then we had to put dish soap and rub it in then once it would shrink let it dry. Then later after we finished, it was lunch. I had a sandwich and some fruit. Then after lunch my group had carding with Richard. It was a comb like tool that helps you make yarn. You just tap the sheep wool to make it spread out. Richard said we could go, once again we met up with Mr Wong’s group for our farm walk.

We saw cows, chickens, pigs, sheep and also goats. Whilst we were walking we bumped into Silva’s group. They were seeing a beautiful peacock that was holding a show. We couldn’t quite see anything. We went around to the sheep pen. Some of the kids were going in and out of the pen and chasing the sheep around. Mrs Botha and her group of children came when they finished their activity at the shearing shed.

We had to go to our bus later after that, it was so quiet because everyone was tired from today. The bus ride felt quick and it was so quiet and peaceful and I didn’t want it to end.
