Tree planting

Have you ever done tree planting? Well some of us went to kimber road in Bombay to do tree planting on Wednesday 10th of August . Jocelyn, Mark and their dog Rosie owned the farm. At 9:00 am we got on the bus and went there. It was a 35-40 mins drive. On the bus it was kinda boring but not that much. We were all excited to plant there.

When we arrived we all saw a dog named Rosie. We were all excited and patted it. Then Linzi from Trees for Survival told us all the instructions. We also had a little snack before we went on the farm and planted. It was a short walk to the farm and when we got there we got to work. We dug holes and planted lots of trees. At the end we planted six hundred native trees. When we ended we had a little rest and we noticed the hills view cows so much more.

Then we walked back to the shed. We cleaned our hands and the spades. Then we had the biggest lunch ever there was: samosas, sausages of all kinds, hash brown, nuggets, buns, wraps, eggs,Nutella sandwiches, fruits, marshmallows, cake, lamingtons, icing slabs, raro, milo and lots more. It was probably the best lunch I ever had in my whole life.

The reason that we all did this all was for survival like oxygen and to stop the erosion. We all had the best day ever. That day was amazing.

Swimming

Do you like swimming or know how to swim? Well on Wednesday 3rd August we went swimming. The John Walker Field of Dreams charity paid for our swimming lessons. We had the lessons at Manurewa Pool and Leisure Centre. We had our swimming bags and our togs, goggles, caps and towels. The bus driver took ages to come and when he finally came we went to the pool.

When we arrived at the pools we got changed into our togs and we were ready to swim. They told us to sit on the edge of the pool and told us how to get in the pool safely. Then Teegan (one of the coaches) told us that we were gonna go from one side of the pool to the other side. Then when we did that 2 after 2 we all had our group numbers. I was in group 1. Our coach’s name was Lyall, he was a boy and he was very nice.

First he told us to blow bubbles under the water which was easy but when the water gets in your eyes, nose and mouth it gets annoying. Next we practiced kicking with a flutter board and it was fun. Then we tried running in the water. It felt weird like you were stuck in quicksand. Then at last we did a breathing challenge. The first one was mushroom. You had to go down and stay still but my goggles got water in them and miss Griffin fixed them for me. Next we did a normal one which I came 3rd in!

Swimming was so good I loved everything we did in it and all my friends loved it too. Hopefully next time we do a relay race because I love them. I also want to play red light green light because the other group played it and it looks so fun. I can’t wait to come here next time!
