This week, we have been learning about food of the future. By 2050, it is predicted that the population of the world will reach over 9 billion people, (rising 1% every year). In order to feed this increase of population, we need to think of innovative ways to produce more food.
Vertical farming, artificial meat and eating bugs could be the solution. Bugs are high in protein and therefore a great energy food. A lot of people all around the world already eat bugs – crickets, locusts, tarantulas, scorpions and black ants.
We tried lightly salted crickets! There was a mixed reaction from our group – the jury is out on this one.
