Ambury park
Have you ever been to an ambury farm? Well on the 15th of November my hapori was going to Aumbury farm for a trip to learn about fabric and see all kinds of animals. We got on the bus and we were in the bus for about 30 minutes and as soon as we arrived we were able to have morning tea before we went to do our first activity.
It was time for our first activity and my group and group 2 went it’s this building and we sat on this fake grass mat in the middle surrounded by lots of different stuff that could be used for all kinds of things. There was this man who looked like he was in his senior years that was talking to us about what girl animals are called, what boys are called also what baby ones are called. We also learnt about different things we use each animal’s hair for. Lastly we had to get in groups and match the hair and the animals together which was quite fun.
If you have seen sheep shearing in movies or something, usually it looks quite nice and is not being hurt at all, however when we went into the sheep shearing shed the first thing I noticed was that it was so smelly. I could see the sheep getting Shawn and I must say it looked very brutal. There were bleeding rams and they looked like they were in a choke hold, however the teachers said that it was normal and it’s just like being nicked a bit. I really wanted to leave
Moments after we had to go back to the building and we had to use sheep cotton to make rope. The way you do it is first you have to use this hair brush looking thing from the bottom the flip. After that you have to spread it out on your leg and you and one other person spring from one side the opposite way of each other.
Finally it was time for us to eat our lunch. I was quite hungry after everything we had done but at least we could now eat so I got my lunch and then we ate and we even were able to play tag for a bit before we had to go and do our final activity which was felts
We got to felts and we had 3 fabric colors that we had to make a sandwich and right after that we had to do a whole lot more step which went getting them wet then rub with soap then tap it the squire out the soap and you have you felt that one of my friends mum thought was for the dishes which I think would work to be honest.
We all went on walks in groups and we went to go feed the lamb with random grab for quite a while because we just thought it was so cute they felt as fluffy as a pillow.Moments later we went to this insect garden just to find bees. I was sad because I wanted to see actual scary insects, however I was fine with that. There was this bird area which had all kinds of birds like turkeys, chicken, pigeons and way more that I can’t list. Ending it if we decided to go look at the pigs which were just sleeping. And then as soon as we thought it was over there was a black pig that had escaped through the drinking fountain and was just tryna scratch its back on anything it could find and I thought It was very funny. He went back into his are and we head back to school and 3 days later I’m writing this for whoever reads it
I loved ambury farms and I would recommend that you go there if you like animals.
