In Spanish this term I have been learning to name the items in my pencil case and classroom.

En mi estuche tengo … – In my pencil case I have …

No tengo – I don’t have

I understand that nouns in Spanish have a gender – they are masculine or feminine, and have definite and indefinite articles.

Masculine nouns 

Definite article – el y los (the)

eg el bolígrafo (the pen) los bolígrafos (the pens)

Indefinite article – un y unos (a and some)

Un bolígrafo (a pen) unos bolígrafos (some rulers)

Feminine nouns

Definite article – la y las (the)

La regla (the ruler) las reglas (the rulers)

Indefinite article  – una y unas (a and some)

Una regla – (a ruler)  unas reglas (some rulers).
