Week 8: Māori language week

What  We Do On Māori Language Week

In week 8 we had Māori language week, a week where we speak as much Tereo Māori as we can. We also sang Waitas like “Te Manurewa” in the next paragraph.

Te Manurewa

If you live in Manurewa you’ve probably heard of the song “Te Manurewa” I goes like this “Te Manurewa ere e ere e ere ai ki runga ki runga”. Well, something like that anyway.

Māori Language Week

The waita mentioned in the last paragraph is about this Māori story. It’s  about two Māori brothers that had a kite competition. One of the brothers got jealous and cut the other’s kite. The kite flew all the way to the coromandel.

Daily Pātai

Every day this week we have a daily pātai hidden somewhere in our space. A pātai is a question. I’ve answered three out of five so far, but none have gotten me a win in the raffle for people that answered it.
