Have you ever gone to a tree planting event for school, well on Wednesday 10 August I went tree planting in Bombay. At the start of the day I got changed into old clothes. After the roll Miss Davies led us down the stairs and to the bus. When we were all on the bus the bus driver set some rules. Much to my surprise the bus driver was OK with singing Baby Shark!!! The address we went to was Kimber road, Bombay.
The land owners were people called Jocelyn, Mark, and Rosie. The person that organised it was called Linzi, from Trees For Survival, which is a non-profit organisation which helps protect NZ from erosion and increase oxygen levels. The place where we were planting trees was on a steep cliff sort of area with views of cow paddocks and small towns.
To plant the trees, we either dug holes with spades, or followed a guy with a drill thingy called an auger. There were plants scattered around the place which were for if you were using a spade. Which if you dug the holes right the dirt looked like Minecraft grass blocks. Then you got a plant and rolled it with your shoe or boot and took it out of its plastic bag. Then place it in the hole. The top of the ground should be level with the soil of the plant. When the plant is in the hole, compact the area around the plant with the dug up dirt. Do the pukeko test to see if it can resist a soft pull.
Once we finished planting the 600 trees we had an amazing lunch! Which included hash browns, chicken nuggets wraps and punch, then there was lunch dessert which included Nutella toast, Marshmallows, cake, lamingtons, and Hot chocolates.
I really enjoyed tree planting, if you ever have the opportunity to do tree planting, you should take it!
The End
Did you enjoy the tree planting or the lunch more? It sounds like a great day. I think you are writing really beautifully – maybe just proof reading to make sure you get the punctuation in the right spot?
