His life show’s that even when you have nothing you can still do big things. most of JRR Tolkien’s childhood hobbies, such as reading, writing etc have had a massive impact later on in his life. Little mind, Big dream

The night stars forming a celestial beast
The magical beast migrating from east
A little girl stands on the world
The dog’s tail whirled and twirled

Little mind, big dream’s
Thought’s like hers had never been seen
The book were like tsunamis
Her atomic gun can create valleys

With a touch of her finger she could erase galaxies
Her peers always tell her to snap back to realities
Complexities and her family doesn’t like that she’s a daydreamer
Escaping from the harsh life that’s reality

Dear Mr luxon

The damages that have been caused by the disastrous cyclone gabriel have destroyed many of our infrastructure, so saying this I would like you to develop our infrastructure to standards that could hold up to such catastrophic events.

This has affected many of our industries such as agriculture, which could potentially affect New Zealand’s tourism and our natural landscape, or as I prefer to say natural beauty.

Now this isn’t the only thing, many kiwi homes were destroyed affecting heavily on places like hawkes bay, and not just this, we come under the ring of fire which creates a risky hazard for volcanic events.

So that is only some of the effects, we also have to accommodate more kiwis and the lack of money creates more and more gangs which really influences crime rate and this would make a big dent in your country’s economy.

Now that we have gone through alot of these tragic stages, it is our time to shine, become the rockstar, for our economy to develop and stop crime rate from growing higher, to decrease the price of petrol and to STOP! Inflation.

Dear Mr Luxon

Due to cyclone Gabriel many kiwi’s homes have been washed away from the massive amount of flood water, some of New Zealanders don’t have enough insurance to cover their needs and lost homes. That’s why YOU! The government helps cover the insurance of the people so first home buyers won’t be worried about buying a house. If you don’t cover insurance and build more houses, it will cause some people to quit their jobs and that will make you! The government would become poorer and it would slow down the production of economics, agriculture and education, and the most motorways to be rebuilt, and would be in a bad economic position.

what has happened so far in new zealand 2023

Hello ladies and gentlemen. I’m here to talk about what happened in New zealand 2023. Well nothing good so far, at the start of the year there’s been a cyclone, a teachers strike and even a flood, those are all terrible things, but i’m here to talk to you about all the sad and terrible things that cyclone gabrielle had done.

The damage had been horrendous. There’s been destroyed houses, bridges and roads but it’s not all bad, it’s a great excuse to drive your boats or paddle your canoes, and the kids would be happy because there would be an extra week of school holiday.

Sadly so many of NZ farm crops have drowned and died, due to the large amount of water, many homes and towns have lost their electricity and towns didn’t have access to fresh water but we adjusted and now we’re fine, but in recently news Christopher Luxon has been elected to be new zealand new prime minister. And we are all excited for what he will do for NZ in 2024.

wk 4/5 blog writing. What if nobody showed up to school

One day I woke up and looked at my alarm clock in shock. I was late for school. I leaped out of my bed and charged down the stairs and gobbled up the breakfast that my mum made for me. I then ran back up the stairs and got changed in my school uniform, then I jumped down the stairs and got my lunch ready and rushed out of the door with my bike. My heart was pounding, was there a test or homework I needed to hand in or even a school trip. Those were the questions that were going through my head, finally I had got to school and the doors were closed. Was I not fast enough, I thought, then I didn’t know what I was doing, but I started to pound the school door yelling “let me in let me in I won’t be late again”. Then I stopped, and sat down for a while my heart rate started to slow down, then I checked my Ipad. I looked in disbelief when I relished that it was Saturday. I biked back to my house, and my mum asked me “where were you all morning” and I replied “I don’t want to talk about it”.

Ambury Regional Park ( ARP )

On Tuesday everyone went to Ambury park. The theme of this trip was called fibers. When we got there I was so excited, because this was my second time being there, but before we could do anything else we ate our morning tea and put our bags away.

Fibres

There was a man named Richard who taught us the different fibers and which animals they came from. When he was talking about the different animal fibers he told us what they were used for. it was very  interesting, after he told us some safety rules when you are next to the farm animals, so when he grabbed a sheep skull, and showed us that the sheep didn’t have any top teeth so it was kind of safe to pat around the mouth, but I still not going to pat around the mouth because, image just feeling teeth at the bottom but gum on top.

The shearing shed

When we went to the shearing shed we saw two strong young men wrestling sheep trying to to shear them, then a little piece of wool came towards me and I grabbed it and put in my pocket to look at later, then we went outside janine was standing with some wool, she said “ you guys can feel it and smell it too”. We all smelled the wool and it had quite a pungent smell, then she told us that the wool hadn’t been washed, and it contained an oil called lanolin that helps your skin.

Felting wool

When we went to the felting station, Janine gave us all 3 different coloured wools, she told us to make a wool sandwich, which is where you put the three pieces of wool on top of each other, then when we were finished with that we all went to the sink and wet our wool sandwich. Then BOOM we all pressed down on the wool so all the fibers could connect and the water would drain out. When we went outside Janine told us to try and rip it apart, but it was way too hard to rip.

The nature walk

On the nature walk we took many photos and we saw many sheared sheep. My favorite thing on the nature walk was the big black pig that escaped its pen by a drinking hole for the animals. The scariest thing there was a freaky turkey that just looked at me weirdly. I loved it when I fed some lamb, and this sheep that looked like it had bunny ears so I called it a bunny sheep. There was also a wasp that we ran from. Then at the end we took a whāunu picture.

I learned a lot from this trip and I’d definitely go again.

We went to a park

There was a sheepdog that barked

There were Lot of sheep

And later I fell asleep

Kindness

When his family lost their home rent due they got Evicted, Kevin’s world was turned upside down. With nowhere else to go, his aunt let them stay in her small apartment. It broke Kevin’s heart to see his mum feeling so helpless and scared trying to stay strong and brave for her children. All Kevin wanted was to make his mum proud, but they couldn’t afford the basics that he needed for school. And there was so little room at the apartment that Kevin had to study on the dirty kitchen floor. He started to fall behind at school and felt embarrassed and alone. But then Kevin made a friend called Jimmy and his nickname is Mr Beast. Jimmy saw that Kevin was falling behind in school and helped him get new school stationery. Later that year Kevin and Jimmy both graduated with scholarships, with Jimmy going to college, later having a masters in video editing, and Kevin being a big time basketball player getting a nice house for his mum.

Conclusion

If Jimmy didn’t help and support Kevin it would be a whole different story.

What does it mean to be a courageous police officer?

Today at school we met CJ who is a police officer. What type of police work does she do? She works on the frontline helping people in need and responding to their 111 emergency calls. CJ told us that her section protects and serves the community like: helping the eldery cross roads, taking care of people, road policing, patrolling neighbourhoods and responding to emergencies.

She talked a lot about the values that police must follow every day in their job. Their values are: Respect, Empathy, Commitment, Diversity, Professionalism, Integrity. This week, our hapori is focusing on Courageousness. Police have to be courageous everyday. Every day they manage tricky situations that would be scary to normal people. They need to be respectful of the person that they talk to and be respectful of their property and belongings and where they are from. Just like we are trying to be respectful of each other in school every day.

Empathy is about walking in another person’s shoes. You notice what they are going through and try to understand their situation. Police have to do this everyday, if two people are having an argument, they would recognize the situation and try to de-escalate it.

Commitment is when you stay on task, don’t muck around and don’t do whatever you want. Diversity comes around a cop every day, diversity is different people believing in  different things, but that’s ok because we are all different in many ways.  Being professional is what every person with a job has to do, and if you’re not professional then you might get fired.

Integrity is when you do the right thing even though nobody is watching and you do it because it’s the right thing to do. That is what cops show/do every day and their equipment are: turnikit, handcuffs, pepper spray, radio, taser and sometimes a glock.

Athletics day

Athletics day is every term 4 at Massey Park. This athletics day I was very nervous and I will tell you in these next 4 paragraphs.

Long jump

When we got off of the bus and put our bags in the stadium, me and my friends went to go do long jump which was at the other slide of the track. When it was my turn I ran and I nearly touched the blue line but I jumped 2.80 meters.

800 meters

When it was time for the 800 meters race and shotput were at the same time and I had to do the track event first. And there were so many races going on, and my race was supposed to be at 11.50 but it started at 12.10. Then moments later Bang the two planks blasted against each other and then I ran and it was quite hard but I was determanatied and came forth out of 6 people.

Discus

Right after the 800 meters I went straight to Discus and I rushed it because I needed to get to shotput fast and I came second with 16.22 meters and then I ran to the shotput place.

Shot Put

As soon as I ran across the field to do my shot put, I rushed it to and for my first one I got 6.98 meters and the next 7 meters, I was filled with pride.

Conclusion

I am very happy with my results, and when I told my mum and dad that sadly they didn’t come to athletic day with me they were very happy with me.
