The life of JRR Tolkien was a triumphant one. His life was filled with high’s and lows, yet years later even after his passing he still wins various pristine awards.

Childhood/Teenage

Tolkien’s childhood life was very devastating, his father died due to
rheumatic fever when young Tolkien was just 4 years old, living in Africa. Just 8 years later his mother due to acute diabetes at fern cottage in Rednal during 1904. Before initial home education, he went to King Edward’s school, later attending St Philip’s school. He returned to King Edward’s school through a Foundation scholarship in 1903. In 1911 he enrolled for Exeter College (Oxford ), he initially read classics but changed his course in 1913 to English language and literature. He later graduated with first class honours in 1915.

Adulthood

Around Tolkien’s early 20’s WW1 started, initially he was forced to fight. The British army, in June 1916 Tolkien was deployed in France 🇫🇷 and was posted to the 11th battalion. Earlier that year (March 22), JRR Tolkien married Edith Bratt. 16 November 1917 was when Tolkien’ s first born son was born (John). 22 October 1920, was when Tolkien second son (Michael). That same year on November, Tolkien left the army retaining his rank as lieutenant. 21st November 1924 was when Tolkien had his 3 son (Chistopher). Tolkien returned to Oxford in 1925, as a professor on Anglo-saxson a professor for English language and literature. On June 18th, 1929, was the birth of Tolkin’s first daughter (Pricina). 1937 he started the publication of the hobbit. 1954 was the publication of the fellowship of the ring, and The two towers. 1955 publication of The return of the king. 1959 Tolkien retired from Oxford. 1971 November Edith Tolkien/Bratt died at the age of 82. 1973 2nd of September JRR Tolkien died at the age of 81.

Inspiration for The Lord Of The Rings (LOTR)

After WW1 JRR Tolkien was inspired to write the hobbit and LOTR as a tribute to his fallen companions who were killed during WW1, especially his two very close friends Robert Gilson and Geoffrey smith.
