Guardians of the earth

Earth is a very beautiful planet it has fantastic views, plants, trees, flowers and animals live on this planet with us. Us humans we create problems like pollution or climate change, that makes the earth less beautiful. We can solve this problem by showing kaitakitanga, being the guardians of the earth. You might ask how do you show kaitakitanga? What is kaitakitanga? You can show kaitakitanga by picking up rubbish or planting trees or plants. Our factories smoke creates climate change, climate change causes the water to heat up that can potentially make the ocean rise and flood places. You can help stop climate change by adding solar panels to your house or you can insulate your walls, use electric cars, use sustainable transport (scooter, skateboard, bicycle) or protect your local river like the Puhinui stream. There is a lot of ways to show kaitakitanga, and there is a lot of pollution and climate change destroying the earth, help the earth and show kaitakitanga.

ANZAC day poem

Boom went a gun
There were no sun
Or any sight of fun
Because the war had all begun

The men fought
And never misthought
or misbrought a single person

No one could visit
So they all got a target
so lest we forget

My experience at Polyfest

We first got into groups and went in buses, then we emptied our water bottles. When we sat down we waited for the rest of the schools, then a person introduced polyfest and himself. We chose one person from every school and they danced and came to the stage and got a ball. Then the police came and told us what they do. After the police left we chose 3 people from our school and they did push ups on the stage then got a ball too. Finally we walked around Polyest then saw all the shows and walked even further then around and back to the buses. Sadly we weren’t allowed to buy anything.

The fight from a height

There was no sight

Of this fight

Because it was from a height

And it wasn’t bright

Cause there was no light

And it was at night

The fun had all begun

When stars shone

On one son

Because the sun

Was done all its fun

Crank went frank

He was in the tank

Since his rank sank

Because he failed to steal the bank

Frank got attacked

Because he pulled a prank

The night sky

The night sky is not a bright sky but there are these teeny tiny bright and white dots they are like lights but in the sky, they are called stars. On a farm where it’s calm and there’s no light and it’s not bright. Where it’s far there’s a star, where there’s mars there’s stars. At the site the moon is a bright and a white light and only at night, but without the sun there’s no fun, because the sun shines to moon otherwise the moon would be a goon, and soon the moon will leave and heave away from us. The moon moves four inches (how long you finger nails grow) every year.

Tessellation Art

What is a Tessellation

Do you know what Tessellation is? If you don’t, then read this. Tessellation is basically shapes being repeated and repeated and it becomes a pattern. You can do it on paper too like I did.

How to make a Tessellation

On paper if you want it or cut it you will have to tape it on the other side of your paper. Be careful because the paper taped should not overlap or have any gaps. Then you trace it on your other real paper then again and it should be able to match it otherwise you. Have to restart or take off the tape and retape it.

How i made my Tessellation

I made my Tessellation a little different compared to everyone’s else’s. I traced mine on my iPad but not fully because the photo was moving. So i just drew some more cubes and it turned out 2 dimensional. When i was finished i started my painting first i did green on a side of the cube and blue and purple.this is how it turned out at the end.

My first few days in 2024 Kāhu

In Kāhu so far, we have done crazy things! In this year so far we have done swimming and softball trials. Thats not it, we still have 20 sports coming up. I have done swimming trials but not softball, i’m not a big fan of it so I didn’t do it. This will be a really fun year in Kāhu. Some teachers have swapped places too. Miss Wang changed classes and Mrs Van Tonder replaced her. Miss Bearda left and Miss Smith replaced her. Things I am looking forward to is leavers jerseys, sports, fun workshops and most importantly, camp! In the Kāhu space so far we have made lanterns for the Lunar new year. Its the year of the Dragon! Lanterns are really fun to make, we made them and my lanterns going really well. We have also been focusing on our Kāhu Treaty. In this learning process we have been learning all about the Treaty Of Waitangi as we will be taking pointers from there to make our treaty good and balanced. This year is one of the best years in TGS for me. All the events, all the fun sports. We also are really excited to see all of our tech groups. Another addition in Kāhu are our Matanga groups are working with: engineering, hand sewing, sphero coding, photo and geography, music, wellbeing and working the the environment. Kāhus tech groups as I mentioned before are also really cool. A few of my favourite tech groups are E-velocity and I am a cook. Im hoping to get my favourite tech group. I have a few goals for this year and I hope to acheive them all. My first goal is getting Self-Directed Learner my second is getting House Captain for Kāuri. I am starting to work towards my goals now and I know that if I keep working for my goals, ill achieve them one day. In this year.

Instructions on how to play football

To play football, you’ll need a team of players, a football (soccer ball), and a field with goals. Here are the basic steps:

  1. Gather Players: You normally need two teams with 11 players on each side.If you don’t have enough players you can do the same thing           (5 a side, 6 a side exc), but maybe make the field smaller.  You can have your own formation but you need to have someone in goal (goalkeeper) . If you have an odd number of players that person can either join a team or be the referee.
  2. Set Up the Field: Mark the boundaries of the field then add a small goal box and big goal box. Place goals at each end of the field.
  3. Understand the Rules: Learn the rules of football, including offside, fouls, penalties, and how to score goals. Learn basic rules of the game.
  4. Kick-Off: The game starts with a kick-off from the centre circle. The team with the ball at the beginning kicks it to his/her teammate to start the match.
  5. Pass and Move: Use your feet to pass the ball to your teammates and try to get closer to the opponent’s goal with the ball. Passing and teamwork are essential.if you want to do a bit of dribbling that’s fine as long as a defender doesn’t get the ball of you. If they do then try to get it back.
  6. Defend and Tackle: If you’re not in possession of the ball, work with your teammates to defend your goal. Try to be goalside(in between your goal and the player) of the player.
  7. Tackling is trying to take the ball away from an opponent. Slide tackling is another way to get the ball off someone. But first learn how to or the player may get hurt, or you might get a yellow card foul.
  8. Corners: when its a corner try to be goalside(goalside means in between the opposing player and your goal)
  9. Score Goals: Try to get the ball into the opponent’s goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins. Shooting is a good way to score. Or You can shoot go on one side to drag the keeper out of the goal then pass it to your teammate for them to tap it in. Another good way to score is to give through balls. A through ball is when you pass the ball in front of your teammate, then your teammate runs to the ball.
  10. Stay Onside: Make sure you’re not ahead of the last defender when the ball is played to you. Being offside is against the rules.Or in other words if you receive the ball in front of the opponent’s defender that’s offside.
  11. Play Fair: Sportsmanship is in football too.  So listen to the rules and respect your opponents. Avoid fouls and don’t go for people’s legs when tackling.(go for the ball)

To get better at football try practising dribbling or passing with someone. If you even want to get better at shooting there’s videos on youtube that shows different techniques. If you want you can even watch professional football players play. If you are really good at football you, maybe one day can be a professional football player.

Reflection: e-asttle writing

My writing… I did pretty good, but i felt like i didn’t try. Like a three out of five. I bearly wrote anything like less then a page, but I’m still happy about it. Anyways i wrote about soccer how i got player of the year. Here’s how it happened, my team is manurewa lions versus waiuku sharks. The score was 6:6, the opposing team shot but luckily our goalkeeper blocked it. The goalkeeper kicked it into the front to our mid fielder he skilled a player and then passed it up the wing then he crossed it then i volleyed(when someone kicks it and it does not touch the ground then you kick it when it was in mid air)  the ball and scored. That was how i got player of the year, i was very proud of my self at that time because i also won a trophy.
