There are lots and lots and LOTS of invasive insects! But one of the biggest nuisance are wasps, for they’re known to sometimes ruin outside activities, sting more times than bees and one of the worst one: common wasps kill NZ native insects. The common wasp’s scientific name is Vespula Vulgaris. What surprises me most is that they kill newly chicks, bees, and more. The reason why common wasps were able to get to NZ was because by nesting in WW2(world war 2) aircraft like planes, along with German wasps. You can find common wasps in NZ native forests like nothofagus forests in the South Island. Common wasps like to eat honeydew mostly but can be seen stealing honey from bees! Common wasps can do lots of harm to our native animals, so we need your help to bring them back to where they came from.
